Bob Knight will finally be honored by his alma mater.

Knight’s son, Pat, told CBSSports.com that Ohio State will honor his father when Lamar plays in Columbus on Dec. 20.

My dad’s excited about it,” Pat Knight told CBSSports.com.

Pat Knight was the head coach at Texas Tech for the past three-plus seasons, taking over in the middle of the 2008 season after his father retired. The younger Knight was fired after last season, but wound up getting the job at Lamar in the Southland Conference.

Knight said that the previous staff had already scheduled road games at Kentucky and Louisville. He needed another “buy” game and asked the current players at Lamar what team they wanted to play.

They agreed on Ohio State, which also happened to be the program that Bob Knight played for from 1959-62. Knight was a reserve on the 1960 national championship team.

Pat Knight then called the Buckeyes, who agreed to the game – and also recommended honoring his father either prior to or at halftime of the game.

``They’d been trying to get him back up for a basketball or football game, but it just hasn’t happened,” Pat Knight said. ``So this will be fun, for him to go back and them to honor him.”

Let's see: Run a class act coach out of town on a rail because he was protecting his players and was doing what he was told by investigators. But erect a statue to a sociopathic, player abusing, pathological liar! Thats just about right. OSU you shouldve done more to protect Tressel against the Nazi NCAA and let Indiana LOOSIERs erect a statue to this idiot.

Branch McCracken

McCracken's up-and-down style earned his Indiana team the nickname, "The Hurryin' Hoosiers," a moniker you still hear sometimes.

A friend's father said that he attended a game where McCracken coached his team this way:  "Run! Run! Shoot! Shoot!"

Now Bobby Knight and Woody Hayes share a common bond.  One coached at OSU and the other playd at OSU.  If Woody Hayes doesn't like you in a game he can strike the opposing player, if that doesn't work he can bring in his backup, Bobby  Knight to throw a chair or strike you on the back of the head.  Between those 2, you don't have a chance.

2 Great gentlemen of the sports world.

Before Knight, their program was mediocre

I didn't realize that 2 National Championships was mediocre. I guess that makes all but like 10 schools in College Basketball mediocre. Most people don't realize the Bobby wasn't our only great Coach. Mr. Branch was pretty good too.

I'll guess they put up a statue with a chair in one hand and a kids throat in the other.

Oops

Oops.  I meant "funny how an OSU fan..."

I didn't mean for my grammar to look like that of a Buckeye.
