Despite being considered an Arizona lean for much of his recruitment, Brandon Ashley still had a long list of suitors on his trail.

On Monday, Ashley confirmed popular opinion and committed to Arizona.

“He committed minutes ago,” Findlay Prep assistant coach Todd Simon told CBSSports.com.

Ashley visited Arizona’s campus on Sunday after the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game in Venice Beach, Calif. He chose the Wildcats over Oregon, Kentucky and UCLA.

Ashley, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Oakland who transferred to Findlay for the fall, is ranked No. 6 in CBSSports.com’s Top 100. He has one of the best skillsets of any frontcourt prospect, using his athleticism and length to make plays in a variety of ways. Ashley can run the floor and finish in transition, but he also has effective post moves around the basket. He can step out and knock down face-up jumpers, and he is also solid on the defensive end and on the glass.

Ashley is the third top-30 commit in Arizona’s 2012 class, joining guard Gabe York (No. 24) and forward Grant Jerrett (No. 30).

Yeah, it was probably a mistake for him to enroll at Arizona.  It's not like Arizona did anything for Derrick Williams ... or Sean Elliott or Gilbert Arenas or Jason Terry  or Luke Walton or Steve Kerr or Damon Stoudamire or Michael Bibby or Richard Jefferson .... it guess theyall disappeared into obscurity after they enrolled in that dead time zone and that obscure Western league .... With such forgettable players, its a wonder they defeated Kentucky in the 1997 National Championship game or obiterated last years #1 team, Duke, the darling of the Eastern media at the great eight....

"Arizona is way above the type of program "Cal" is putting together!"....... Really? For some reason I thought Kentucky was in the Final 4 last year and was entering this season ranked #2, I guess I learn something everyday..... P.S. what is a better offer than being the coach at Kentucky?

Why would I keep up with basketball that is second-tier at best and never on TV?

Here's another new thing to learn for today- they don't play basketball in the Pac-10 anymore, its the Pac-12.  I know its bewildering for a SEC fan but try to keep up.

I didn't even know they still played basketball in the Pac-10.  I guess you really do learn something every day.

With Brandon Ashley going to Arizona now Sean Miller and UA have the best recruiting class so far and probable will end up #1 at the end anyways. Miller is turning out to be another Lute Olson Thank God.

Seriously? Who in their right mind would want to play for a coach that looks for "one hit wonders" instead of investing in the "long term" goals of the program? As a "program", Arizona is way above the type of program "Cal" is putting together! Besides, we all know "Cal" is gonna leave just as soon as he gets a better offer! Recruits want stability. They want to know who they will be playing with for a year or two or three. Can't get that with Kentucky!

He gagged......rather than star for one of Calipari's All Star squads next year, he decided to take his game to a dead time zone and battle the likes of washington and UCLA for a #3 seed in next year's NCAA........no problem, his loss.

Damn.......I was hoping we'd get this kid..........hell, I was hoping we'd get Drummond.........right now we have no one. But Cal will be fine.
