By Jeff Borzello

It’s been an exciting, confusing and interesting few weeks for Archie Goodwin.

He trimmed his list to 10, then eight, then five. Goodwin then said he would likely wait until the spring to make a decision, planning to take all five official visits before sitting down and then committing. On Monday, he suddenly dropped Connecticut and Kansas from his final five and said he would decide within a few weeks from between Kentucky, Arkansas and Memphis.

The whirlwind couple of days continued Tuesday night, when he sent out a tweet: “Everyone stay tuned tomorrow morning it’s going down!!!”

Everything culminated right before midnight on Tuesday, when Goodwin announced for Kentucky.

“If you don’t know by now, I’m a Wildcat!!!” Goodwin tweeted.

Goodwin, a 6-foot-5 guard from Sylvan Hills (Ark.), might be the best scoring guard in the country. He attacks the rim with reckless abandon whenever there is an opening, and he knows how to finish with authority. Goodwin is very difficult to stop off the dribble, and his first step is one of the best.

He should fit perfectly into Kentucky’s offensive system, which allows for creativity off the bounce. The Wildcats were often considered a favorite for Goodwin, although the in-state Razorbacks put a lot of their eggs in his basket. In the end, the allure of going to Lexington outweighed the nostalgia of staying at home.

Goodwin, ranked No. 6 by CBSSports.com, is the first Kentucky commit in the class of 2012. Some were worried about the lack of Wildcat pledges; those people shouldn’t worry any longer.

Watched Goodwin play he is the real deal! Perry Ellis somewhat of a head case, better he stays close to moma, could be disruptive,we'll see how Bill Selfish handles him.Shabaaz is the guy that will likely commit to Kentucky followed by four or five other top recruits.

WOW!!!! this is just poor poor taste that has zero factual basis...i'm a doctor of physical therapy..who went to UK and had 2 pts walk for the first time the past week but I guess that doesn't mean anything does it because I must of been lucky just guessing the dx. The pt's piriformis muscle in one case was extremely tight cutting off the nerve blood supply to the sciatic nerve leaving her entire leg numb and all she needed was R ER stretching (which I KNOW YOUR elementary education in Florida covered that i'm sure)...stretching worked perfect and her R leg is working great and she can now walk to the bathroom!!!! but the CRIME comment???? HAHAHAHAHAHA..yeah lots of crime in the cornfields around here loser..what an idiot..you need to look up the word demographics and do some research before saying something so stupid!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO BEAT UF 3 times in bball this year!!!

YOU MY FRIEND NEED COUNSELING CONCERNING HATE ISSUES. MOST ALL OF THE TOP PLAYERS GO THRU THE MOTION IN THEIR FRESHMAN YEAR BECAUSE THE NBA ISNT SMART ENOUGH TO REQUIRE THEM TO STAY IN SCHOOL FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR OR LET THEM GO STRAIGHT TO THE NBA OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. I PLAYED BALL AT UK AND WAS THERE 4 YEARS AND GRADUATED AND YOUR IDIOTIC GENERALIZATION OF THE STATE OF KY IS LUDICROUS(LOOK THE WORD UP IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS).

DKH-FL....actually said Kentucky was a bottom feeder in crime and teen pregnancy, when he's from Florida!  Last I checked, there are cities like Tampa and Miami there.  I'm sure there's not an ounce of crime or teen pregnancy in those places.  This guy must have posted while at Club LaVilla or Spinnakers in Panama City Beach.  LMAO

@uksmithfan... sorry about the KU/UK miss... I was trying to do two things and dropped the ball.

As for the rest of your commentary, you're obviously a five year old.  To insinuate is to suggest or to hint... I didn't do that at all about Calipari.  He has indeed cheated before and there is an endless road of proof showing as much.  Just because he hasn't personally been nailed is simply a formality.  You don't have multiple schools get jammed up - everytime you show up in town - and think its all a coincidence.  Well, you can, but you would be a moron.

Lastly, the one thing you don't mention which was my main point is the over point of my comment: THIS IS BAD FOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL AND WE CAN'T BLAME IT ALL ON KENTUCKY AND CALIPARI.

That being said, the fact that you have no problem with kids attending a supposed institution of higher learning while knowing 100% that they have NO interest in even going to class let alone graduating... well... that makes you the idiot which is synonymous with most people from Kentucky.  There is a reason its a bottom feeder in education, crime, teen pregnancies, infant mortality, etc - its the Somalia of the US.  Kudos to you for that!
