The Naismith Preseason List will be released this afternoon, but has obtained a bootleg copy of it (OK, not really - but that sounds cool).

Anyway, the major difference between the Naismith and the Wooden (and why I prefer the Naismith) is that it includes freshmen.

There were seven frosh on the Preseason list: Three from Kentucky (Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague), Brad Beal (Florida), Andre Drummond (UConn), Quincy Miller (Baylor) and Austin Rivers (Duke).

Two teams - North Carolina and Kentucky - have four players on the list. UConn, Ohio State and Vandy each have a trio.

Naismith Preseason Top 50 - Early Edition

That is a dumb statement. I watch Wisconin, and Big Ten basketball. At times, I have a chance to watch other leagues. It's great to have a list of players that are good, and worthy of checking out before the Tourney. They might not end up being the best 50, but they've all done something that can be considered "watchable". To say people shouldn't watch college basketball if they don't know all of the best players to watch is ridiculous. Unless you don't have a job, and only EVER study college basketball, you couldn't possibly know about every single player that's worthy of mention.

Would be phenominal if Thomas Robinson would win it-like Buster Douglas, "for my MOM." And today is the original Dr J's birthday! Dr. JAMES Naismith's 150th! Rock Chalk Go KU!

Naismith Preseason Top 50 - Early Edition

A fair, (no not CJ) portion of that might be due the fact that as touted as they are our beloved 'CUSE doesn't HAVE to have them them perform as FOY candidates. Simply above above average should propel the Orange to another a great season. The other freshman are either filling such big holes or are needed to carry their teams. Or it could be once again the typical bias against anything positive for anything Boeheim.

Naismith Preseason Top 50 - Early Edition

You know, for supposably being such a great freshman coming into the year, Michael Carter-Williams and Rakeem Christmas's name are nowhere to be found in anything from freshman of the year runners to being on the Naismith preaseason top 50 list.
