I feel the need, the need for speed-themed videos.

Time-lapse mini films have become instant viral feed in the past 12 months. There are plenty of really great ones out there, but over time, there's a diminishing-returns factor to them. No matter, I was wondering how the metamorphosis of a 60,000-ton ship into a basketball venue would take place. Someone was smart enough to perch a camera a few hundred feet above the USS Carl Vinson and document to slow-but-speedy transformation.

Lots of cranes, forklifts, the usual. The day/night turnover is also fun. The court looks a little more blasé than I'd expected, but this is a game taking place to honor our military, so it's appropriate to go straight-laced.

Plain looking court

To Blase for the writer, I personaly love it.  I hate seeing all those advertisements cluttering up the playing surfaces of any sport.  Enjoy the game, rather than how gaudy we can make fields, uniforms, etc... look.  MLB now looks like a minor league park with all the ads on the walls.  By the way, Thank You to those who serve.  POW MIA

Evidently some people do not read sports much. I read back in Jult or maybe it was June that this whole deal was being paid for by the sponsors.  Some people complain about it being the tax dollars at work and I am willing to bet they are the 47% that pay 0 taxes. On top of all that I am quite sure if someone ran a search on this it would direct you to the story I read about the sponsors paying for it all.

My last post was targeting the guy that made reference to tax dollars being used to fund this effort and his comment on US debt.

Wow!   Thank you for demonstrating your ignorance and why they should conduct a standard intelligence test before allowing people to post things on the internet. Good luck to you and whatever country you live in.  I am SURE it is a GREAT place to live (insert sarcasm here)

To all you taxes at work clowns where were you during WWI, WWII, Korea,Vietnam, Panama, Gulf War , Iraqi freedom, war on terror and countless dust bin of history operations such as Gernada, Haiti, Yogoslavia,Lebanon? Did you ever serve months on end away from family on a ship or stationed overseas in Europe, Japan Guam, Korea,  with no real hope of see family? Did you ever spend time in a silo waiting for the real thing? Where you ever part of a aircraft crew ready to go at a drop of a hat? Were you ever part of a deployable anywhere in the world  in 48 hours unit?Been on a coast guard icebreaker or chopper ?Have you ever dug a drench and hoped to God you would never have to use it? Ever set up a fighting position and just prayed they did not come ?  I could go on and on sorry if I missed anyone but  God Bless all vets from all services. This game is about them not some A$$ clown with a CBS blog complaining about government waste

To those of you complaining about your tax dollars being wasted, I recommend you go the the front gate of the nearest miltary base, and tell every service person you see how you really feel.

it doesnt matter what it cost the taxpayers, which im sure not that much since the bill is probably footed by the schools themselves or from private donations. Even even if the taxpayers did pay for it, it's money well spent so our hard working troops can enjioy one afternoon of fun beore they ship out and go back to defending us so we can all enjoy watching basketball while these brave men and women go and sail back around the world to protect us.....I don't care if it costs millions....It's the one thing i absolutely do not mind at all....These veterens deserve it 100 fold.....To give our veterens an afternoon of fun and relaxation, to me is priceless and anybody that even brings up tax dollars should be friggin ashamed of themselves....I don't see anybody complaining about their tax dollars being spent on a single mother addicted to drugs pushing out babies every year to stay on the welfare payroll and bleed us dry..But one afternoon of basketball on a warship has everybody up in arms about taxpayer money....You people need to get your heads on straight and should be ashamed of yourselves.....This is a small price to pay to say thank you on one of our most important holidays, and to be honest we still do not do enough....After this game these brave sailors will ship out for months on end and won't get to enjoy anything like this for months if not ever....So before you post on things like tax money and the like, just stop and think before you open your mouth and show some god damm respect for what this holiday really means and that you cant' put a price tag on what our troops have done for us.....Just remember that the next time you have to run away from two 110 ten story buildings collapsing on an American city and how angry you were that day, and be thankful that these men and women decided no questions asked that they were gonna put their lives on the line so that it never happens again.....God Bless the Carl Vinson, and God Bless our troops....Happy Veterens Day.....
