Harvard win puts Crimson in position for Top 25

Harvard can play with the big boys. Literally.

The Crimson, who are talented and experienced enough to run the table in the Ivy League this season, knocked off Florida State.

The final score was an ugly 46-41 and it was just 14-all at the break, but no one will care about that come March - when Tommy Amaker's team is likely jockeying for a decent seed in the NCAA tournament.

The most impressive aspect about Harvard's performance on Friday in the win over the long and talented Seminoles was the battle of the boards.

Harvard 40, Florida State 30.

That's mind-boggling for an Ivy League club to crush a frontline that has NBA-caliber size on the glass.

Florida State's Michael Snaer was the lone player in the game to reach double-figures with 10. Oliver McNally led Harvard with nine.

The 28 combined points in the first half tied the lowest in a half for a D-1 game since 1986.

Now Harvard gets a chance to win the Battle 4 Atlantis with a win against Central Florida, which upset No. 4 UConn, on Saturday afternoon.

Harvard coach Tommy Amaker declined to be interviewed after the game - and also didn't want his players talking to CBSSports.com - in an effort to keep them focused on the tournament championship.

If the Crimson can win one more game, a Top 25 ranking could -- and should -- follow.

Nope.  Too big of a leap from the bottom of the "Also Receiving Votes" (ARV) list.

They should see a significant rise up thru that list to the 35-50 votes range.

Yeah but they only have 5,000 students and a mild sports interest compared to the money sports schools

Should Harvard crack the top 25 and hover there through the year, will the seating committee finally give the Ivies a break?  If the IVY champ ever got an 8, 9, or even 10 seed, they'd get out of the first round and cause real trouble.
