North Carolina freshman P.J. Hairston isn't expected to play Saturday against Kentucky.

Hairston, arguably the top perimeter shooter on a team that also features Harrison Barnes and Reggie Bullock, injured his left wrist in the Tar Heels win over Wisconsin on Wednesday night.

"Sorry to say, but I will not be playing Saturday," Hairston tweeted on Thursday morning.

Saturday is when North Carolina will travel to play top-ranked Kentucky at Rupp.

That's the bad news. The good is that Hairston also tweeted that his wrist isn't broken -- and that he'll be back soon.

A North Carolina spokesman told CBSSports.com that X-Rays on Thursday morning were negative, but more tests were scheduled for later in the day - and a timetable for Hairston's return was still unclear.

Hairston, who was coming off the bench and playing about a dozen minutes per game, had made 14-of-31 shots from beyond the arc in the first seven games.

His minutes will likely go to be Bullock, a sophomore who was hurt last season but is also a big-time shooter. Bullock has made 11-of-25 shots from 3-point range thus far this season.

I dont see how you didnt realize that I'm not a Duke fan.  Check out the name.  It has Cat in it.  Maybe that's a clue.

It has got to disappointing to be a Carolina fan.  Not only are you not #1 in the polls, your not even #1 in your own state.  So sad!
Who is better? Unless UNC takes a complete beating from UK, it is probable that UNC will be ranked above Duke on Monday (and I don't see another NC team that would be above UNC). After the Ohio State game, I don't see how Duke fans would be trash talking UNC...

One would think that anyone with any knowledge about the game of college basketball would understand that to rate the level of "excellence"<or elite teams> of any team this early in the season would be folly--yet here comes another shot at Duke!

Fortunately, and unlike college football's highest lebvel , the eventual champion of college basketball--at its highest level-- has limited personal opinions involved with determining the eventual champion and allows that determanation to be made on the court of play--not the court of personal opinion!!

Of course some attention needs to be given those "elite" teams as they play through the championship tournament--so, here's to VCU, James Madison, Hampton U, and all those other unknown "elite" teams!!

Patience, my friend. In due time we will all know the teams of championship calliber!!

It has got to be disappointing to be a Kentucky fan.  Yes they get great recruits but they only stick around for a year. Is that really what you want? An NBA draft factory? How many of these kids really have an affinity to the school? Sad really.

UNC will still be a handful.....only team other than Ohio State that has UK's talent. Not sure yet about Syracuse, but Duke isn't in that class.......actually, as much as it pains me to say it, Louisville may also be an elite team this year........

This is not good. Hairston is not only Carolina's best three point shooter, but he is the only guy (other than Barnes) who has no problem taking a three in a clutch situation with total confidence that he is going to make the shot.

Additionally, Hairston really needed to experience a road game like this against a heavyweight opponent on the national stage that will be seen by every serious college basketball that can possibly watch it.

Nonetheless, injuries are part of the game and it will be interesting to see how much energy and toughness UNC is able to bring onto the floor at Rupp against a fired up Kentucky team that has been pointing to this game for months.

Well crap. Rankings don't mean a lot to me at this point in the season, but I'm sure everyone who's a real sports fan wanted to see these teams battle at full strength. Still we're going to see a heck of a lot of talent on the floor from 2 top notch teams from great programs. Fans of both teams have plenty to be happy about this year. Here's to a great game and GO CATS!! Cool

I hope the kid will be ok.

We would have loved to have UNC at 100% on Saturday, but I'm sure someone will step up in his place.

Get well buddy. Puts more pressure on Harrison and reggie from 3point land.
