Jarnell Stokes won't play in Memphis this week

Jarnell Stokes won't make his debut in his hometown of Memphis this week. In fact, the talented big man may not see his first college action for a couple weeks.

Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin told CBSsports.com that even if Stokes, a Memphis native who is enrolling in college early, gets through the NCAA clearinghouse, he won't play against the Tigers on Wednesday night in Memphis.

"We need to get him acclimated, adjusted and comfortable," Martin told CBSSports.com. "There's no reason to rush him."

Martin said it's unlikely Stokes would play until Jan. 12 at the earliest.

Martin doesn't want to throw his talented Memphis native -- who committed last week and will enroll in college early -- to the wolves.

Stokes, who graduated from high school in 3 1/2 years, is still waiting to be officially admitted to school and cleared by the NCAA. But the schedule is daunting for the big man with hometown Memphis this week, followed by Florida on Jan. 7, at Mississippi State on Jan. 12 and Kentucky on Jan. 14.

If that's the case, he might want to wait to play him until Jan. 18 in Athens against Georgia.

It's a shame you can't see quality when you see it. I have lived in KY my whole life, but before I retired at age 45, I traveled all over this country. I can tell you, TN has the worst drivers in the nation, and that says a lot. In fact, at one time I spent a lot of time traveling around TN. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. While in Eastern TN, a guy hit me head on just south of Cookville TN. Despite what the police report showed, he told his insurance company, a TN company, that he was in his lane, and I was in mine. The ins. company tried to deny the claim, but eventually even they had to succumb to logic. After all, if he was in his lane, and I was in mine, how'd we hit, much less head on?? I then did a little bit of research, and found  that TN had the highest number of uninsured drivers in the country. My guess is that they were uninsurable at best!!! LMAO

For the record, though not from Madisonville, I lived there for several years, and currently live only about 35 miles from there. There are a lot of great areas around there, and it's truly a shame you are so uninspired that you can not find the beauty and happiness that so many others can. But then, I believe it is philisophical in nature, you see, I believe every decision you or I make is potentially our best decision ever made, it is up to us to make that decision the best. If that is over your head, contact me at curioustr21@yahoo.com, I'll meet you over there in Madisonville, and I'll tutor you in philosophy!!! LOL

As always....Go CATS!!!!!!!

I like UM fans. They still think they are relavent in college basketball. They have countless 5 star players. Can't play D, don't know how to play half court offense beyond 2 passes and can't even get ranked in the top 25 playing in a weak CUSA. I guess missing out on another 5 star prospect for Pastner to screw up was too much for them to take. I love it, get back to me when you're relevant!

Relax all you Kentucky fans who shadow every article about Memphis to patrol any attempt to portray your slimeball coach as who he really is, no one on here has done that. Oh, oops.
