Some people questioned Brian Gregory’s ability to attract high-major talent to Georgia Tech when he took the vacant head coaching job last spring. He continues to prove the doubters wrong, though.

On Friday night, Kentucky transfer Stacey Poole Jr. chose Georgia Tech as his next destination, a source told CBSSports.com.

“Stacey is a done deal,” the source said.

The source went on to say that the Yellow Jackets are still working to get Poole admitted into the school, but it should be official by the middle of next week.

Poole left Kentucky in early November after rumors swirled for weeks about his status for the season. The 6-foot-4 small forward from Florida played only 45 minutes during his freshman campaign with the Wildcats last year. Because he didn’t play in any games this season, Poole hopes to be able to play next season.

I think Coach Cal's record with players speaks for it's self, (Josh Harrelson, Liggins).  Poole's problem most likely was his head and his father. Doing what he did was most likely best for him and Kentucky. The BBN wishes him well and hopes it all works out for him. One word of advise, keep daddy out of your business and try REAL hard, you may not get another chance

you say that as if its a bad thing.  Some people respond to certain types and others dont.  BCG while at UK really turned off some major talent with his means, his problem was he didnt win.  Some questions Pooles work ethic while there and his dad was pretty involved in the decision by stating his son was transferring before he even made up his mind.  Best of luck to Poole and lets try to see this for what it is, a kid that couldnt find min for whatever number of reasons and nothing more.  Kids transfer all the time from UNC, Duke, all the top schools.  It happens doesnt mean Ole Roy is a slime does it?

"Another victim of coach SLIME recruiting over a kid."

What a doofus. EVERY coach at EVERY school attempts to recruit the best players possible and constantly improve their team. THAT IS THEIR JOB! Are you one of the idiots that believe that a program cannot recruit a player that is better than the player they currently have at the position? How exactly does that help a team get BETTER? What if the player they signed doesn't develop as they hoped? Are they stuck with him until he uses up his eligibility? Idiot.

Poole had every opportunity at every practice to show the coaching staff that there was no need for them to go out and find a better player than him yet he apparently wasn't able to do so. You have to EARN your spot every day, not just the day you sign an LOI.

I am sure this will be misunderstood by rabid uk fans, but many of you will see the truth in it.  While I have no inside knowledge of Poole's work ethic or even his potential, I know how Calipari tries to motivate his players.  Some players are able to respond to Cal's type of motivation and some are not.  Some respond and may get an increase in minutes.  Those who do not respond end up in Cal's doghouse.  It is safe to say that if you expect to end up in the draft pool you had better get in the lineup by whatever means necessary.  Players transfer all the time, but Cal seems to have at least one go every year and most of these were top high school talent.  Jeff Robinson went to Memphis and ended up a starter at Seton Hall.  TreVon Willis went to Memphis and ended up a starter and leading scorer at UNLV.  Were these guys really scrubs?  No, they just did not respond well to Cal's form of motivation.  I think T. Jones is learning that his draft position depends on responding to Cal's motivation or he will be bench sitting and dropping like a lead balloon in the draft predictions.

Good Luck Poole, once a Cat always a Cat

now for this a-hole the glove

Another victim of coach SLIME recruiting over a kid
what are you talking about, recruiting over a kid? When you get recruited to Kentucky, Cal is honest and tells you straight forward you are going to play and compete with the best talent in the nation and if you don't want to compete you will fall behind.  Some kids accept the challenge and relish in it. But is recruiting over a kid mean recruiting Michael Gilchrist??  Too bad, yea we are going to turn down Michael Gilchrist because we don't want to hurt a player like poole's feelings.  Get real theglov, your just a hater because your team doesn't recruit like UK.  Pool could have worked hard and been better than a player like Gilchrist, and he still can do that at Gerogia Tech, and i wish him the best, anything is possible if you put the time and work in.

Nobody said he was a loose-cannon or bad kid, but from what us obsessed UK fan base has heard from practice reports is he just wasn't up to par to get major impact playing time yet as a SOPHMORE.  He would have definitly broke the rotation if he stuck around as a senior after puting in the work and knowing the system.  I would have loved him to stay on the UK squad, he could have had 8-10 minutes a game this year if maybe he was a defensive stopper who worked extremely hard like Deandre liggins past year and Ramon HArris year before that . . .Both ranked out of highschool about the same as Pool out of highschool.

But going to Georgia Tech may end up being better for him, who knows, I could see him getting 10 minutes a game there after he sits out, and then cracking the starting lineup as a senior.

And the Kentucky faithful categorize the kid as, bad, disinterested, loose-cannon, etc.

Anybody have a VCR tape with $10,000.00 I could borrow?

Cool

It's too bad really. If he did put in work over the summer like Terrence, Doron, and Vargas did, he picked a bad year to transfer. He would have been in the guard rotation and probably got 10-15 minuted per game at in the first semester. and it's not as though Twaney has garnered major confidence, he's getting like 1 minute a game. And Polson and Malone are team mascots who'll never hit the court unless it's a blowout in the last minute either way.

I'VE SEEN THIS KID PLAY IN HIGH SCHOOL AND OBSERVED HIS SHORT TIME AT UKEN.....HIS POTENTIAL HAS AN UPSIDE, BUT HIS CURRENT TALENT LEVEL IS NOT DIV I AND HIS WORK ETHIC IS PATHETIC.....IN MY OPINION, HE IS EXTREMELY IMMATURE, UNSURE OF HIS ABILITIES, AND BY TSFRRING-AFRAID OF TOP NOTCH COMPETITION THAT COACH C HAS ACCUMULATED......NO GREAT LOSS FOR UKEN, LET HIM GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GROW UP
