Gary Parrish isn't ready to declare Syracuse the best team in the country. As for Kentucky, he takes UK over UNC -- something that wasn't the case in the preseason. Parrish went on Tim Brando's radio show this morning to discuss three of the country's top teams.

Cuse is strong, no question...the problem with the 2-3 is you hope the 3 isn't falling, if it is you lose the advantages you otherwise gain...first, you're swapping 3's for whatever you get against UK's stronger defense, second, you start guarding the 3 better opening up penetration and breaking the zone down, third, the more match-up the 2-3 is, the easier it is to run DDMO...UK shoots 40% from 3 if you limit shots in the tourney to the guards...

that's what folks said last year with marginally talented guys in liggins and harrelson...FF was the outcome...replace Knight, Liggins, Harrelson with Teague, Kidd-Gilchrist, Davis and add senior Miller, and 2nd year Lamb and Jones...already in the top 10 in O and D on KenPom...no one couls possibly say this team isn't better developed than last year's FF team at this point...more complete, more able to match up with all kinds of teams...how could you say otherwise??

KU = Kansas University
UK = University of Kentucky

can't take you seriously if you don't know this.

As of now,  Syracuse's zone would really bother UK.   Auburn's 2-3 zone did...  but then again,  the young UK kids seem to be playing at the level of competition..  maybe they would step it up against Syracuse?  who knows, who cares .... It's January.

I am a little disappointed in Kentucky's development thus far.   They seem to be stuck in a rut right now offensively.   They'll get beat a few times in SEC and that should help them refocus.   They are still winnning comfortably... so maybe a few Ls will get them to focus and play a little crisper in the half court set.

Ton of Talent for UK...  but they do not have a complete team so they may be susceptible to some matchup issues in March.

I am confused where the lack of pros for SU is. I admit they might not have future all-stars like Kentucky. But they have plenty of NBA-caliber kids. Is there a better guard in America right now than Dion Waiters? If there is, he certainly doesn't play for Kentucky. I'd love to see Kentucky match up against the 2-3. I think it would give them a ton of problems. Parish isn't analyzing the actual match up; he's falling in love with talent. I get it to an extent. But this would be a terrific match up, and I really think SU would win more often than not.

We ALL know ya love KU....But ya cant argue that  the CUSE is winning ...convincingly vs BIG EAST  teams....Forget about the they havn't played anyone...ALL TOP TEAMS play a SOFT start....IF I'm WRONG.........Name ONE in the top 25 that has !!!! Syracuse has back up players @ ALL 3 spots.....and they perform......sometimes better.....KU can't say that can they????? Love to hear what ya got to say GARY.
