UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Kentucky played another basketball game and killed another basketball team on Saturday.

This time the victim was LSU.

And it's starting to look like the Wildcats are the lone trustworthy thing in the sport.

Sure, John Calipari will continue to question his team and build others up because that's what he does. But there's no denying that the third-year Kentucky coach doesn't just have the nation's most talented roster. He's also got the country's top team. And the Wildcats are playing like it. And they're just a wild 3-pointer away from sitting here in late January with a 22-0 record.

Think about that.

If Christian Watford's buzzer-beater doesn't swish, Kentucky is undefeated.

Nobody else is literally one shot away from perfection.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame. Ohio State was handled at Illinois. Missouri was handled at Oklahoma State. North Carolina was handled at UNLV (and destroyed at Florida State). Baylor was handled at home by Missouri. Kansas was handled at Iowa State. Duke was handled at Temple. Georgetown was handled at Pittsburgh. Michigan State was handled at Northwestern and Michigan. And I just listed everybody else in the top 10 of the latest AP poll. Put another way, seven (Syracuse, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State) of the nine schools not named Kentucky that are ranked in the top 10 have lost to a currently unranked opponent, and the other two have either lost at home (Baylor to Missouri) or been routed (North Carolina at FSU).

Meantime, the Wildcats are rolling.

I'm not saying they'll finish the regular season with one loss.

But they sure look like they could, don't they?

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Just to continue my theme from my earlier post about bias in the sports media I just read the CBS column on who makes the tournament at this point.  They have 7 Big Eaat teams included and they didn't even fill out a complete bracket.  Why?  Half those teams have losing records in their conference.  It's insane to think that beating another BE team makes you highly rated.  Remember the BE bombed badly in the tournament last year.  2 teams made it out of the first weekend and one made it because 2 BE teams played each other.  They had 11 teams in while much better teams like Alabama sat out.  You think the media isn't biased?  Why do my posts show up with all sorts of spelling and grammar errors that I didn't type?  They want us to look stupid, that's why.  The sports media nearly exploded over the competition of sports blogs.  They demanded that regular folks not be able to report on games.  Talk about bigotry.  I mean they went nuts because of competition.  Free speech only applies to them of course.  They just didn't like it that they couldn't control the story line just like the New York Times hates the new media.  They have been exposed.  So has the sports media.  They slant coverage.  It's been proven too many times.  They can't shut us up either although they tried again last week to make it where they could shut down anyone they want by claiming copyright infringement.  Anyone who doesn't know the real story line there has their head in the sand or stuck up Dick Vitale's tail so far they can see out his big mouth.  It was ALL about censorship.  And they actually think we're too dumb to notice.  We noticed.  The switchboard at the capital was shut down from overloads all day long.  You couldn't get a call in to save your life.  I know.  I tried.  Stop swallowing their droppings.  The BE is just their favorite conference next to the ACC.  That doesn't make them better than other conferences.  Look at the number of national championships in basketball over the past 20 years and see who is in the lead.  The BE has 4.  The SEC has 5.  Yet to hear the talking heads describe things you'd guess the BE had won 10 and the SEC zero.  Why is that?  And let's not forget the BE has had far more teams than the SEC during that stretch.  Still the SEC gets 5 tournament bids while the BE gets 11.  The BE has 4 teams ranked in the top 10 in the pre-season poll despite their horrible showing in the tournament, the last place they had to show their strength.  This junk happens every year.  It stinks.  It's ridiculous.  Playing BE teams does not give you a better strength of schedule.  The SEC has been a better conference for the past two decades.

Get out of Harlan?  Not only you stupid but you're a bigot too.  Every team in the SEC has tried a zone on UK.  They have these guys who shoot from outside that little half circle thingy where they give you an extra point if you make it.  Lamb is shooting 47% from that area.  Yeah zone away.  This isn't 2010.  You need to get your head out of the past.  Miller is picking up his trey shooting as well.  He's at 40% and rising fast.  You clearly haven't seen UK face a zone.  You can't zone a team that shoots from the outside like UK does.  I don't care who you are.

Every expert in the country proclaims SU the best team in transition. My only point there is that it's hardly a controversial position. Kentucky has Lamb as a shooter and maybe Miller. Wiltjer? Come on. UK has a great team. They deserve to be #1. But some of you need to get out of Harlan County. Syracuse's zone would give UK a ton of problems. Could UK still win? Of course. But SU would give about as good as they get.

Okay UK_razy.  Got your point.  I will not contest that the Wildcats are the best team in the country.  I might not even if Fab Melo were still playing for 'Cuse and they were 23-0 right now (although that argument would hold more water).  Just don't get so bent out of shape when someone sticks up for their team.  With Melo, SU would be a very good match-up with UK.  Without him, 'Cuse still has a chance.  No team is unbeatable.  You should know You're team is 21-1.  SU is 22-1.  Don't act like Kentucky would wipe the floor with Syracuse, okay?  And enough with the Bernie Fine, Boeheim is the same as Paterno and should be fired crap.  If that were going to happen, it already would have.  lets keep it to the game please

@Mattyk What?UK has atleast 4 guys that can hit the three consistently.Lamb(one of the best shooters in college bball),Miller,Jones and Wiltjer. We have great zone attackers all over the floor.Everyone in the startin five can drive and attack esp MKG and Miller. And do i ever wish that Cuse would run with Kentucky.Ask Arkansas how that went for um.

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Only a SU fan could really believe three things: 1) a center averaging 7 points and 5 rebounds a game would affect UK, OR won a game at ND; 2) that Fine isn't a sick, twisted, perverted child molester; and 3) that Boeheim should still have his job.  After all, if JoePa knew, then I'm pretty sure Jimmy B knew, especially since Fine WAS STILL ON THE STAFF, and was a regular at Jimmy B's house.

And I won't even validate your idiocy about NCAA investigations.  If I were you, and a SU fan, I would be more worried about the POLICE investigations and the child molesters running amok up your way.
