UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Kentucky played another basketball game and killed another basketball team on Saturday.

This time the victim was LSU.

And it's starting to look like the Wildcats are the lone trustworthy thing in the sport.

Sure, John Calipari will continue to question his team and build others up because that's what he does. But there's no denying that the third-year Kentucky coach doesn't just have the nation's most talented roster. He's also got the country's top team. And the Wildcats are playing like it. And they're just a wild 3-pointer away from sitting here in late January with a 22-0 record.

Think about that.

If Christian Watford's buzzer-beater doesn't swish, Kentucky is undefeated.

Nobody else is literally one shot away from perfection.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame. Ohio State was handled at Illinois. Missouri was handled at Oklahoma State. North Carolina was handled at UNLV (and destroyed at Florida State). Baylor was handled at home by Missouri. Kansas was handled at Iowa State. Duke was handled at Temple. Georgetown was handled at Pittsburgh. Michigan State was handled at Northwestern and Michigan. And I just listed everybody else in the top 10 of the latest AP poll. Put another way, seven (Syracuse, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State) of the nine schools not named Kentucky that are ranked in the top 10 have lost to a currently unranked opponent, and the other two have either lost at home (Baylor to Missouri) or been routed (North Carolina at FSU).

Meantime, the Wildcats are rolling.

I'm not saying they'll finish the regular season with one loss.

But they sure look like they could, don't they?

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

It cracks me up when Syracuse fans bring up SOS, how in the world can games against Fordham, and tulane be considered high rpi games? The big least is even more mediocre thatn in years past but the conference will still get 8 teams. To prove a point, Marquette is supposed to have a team to challenge for the Big least crown, they got smoked by LSU and Vanderbilt. Kentucky destroyed LSU on the same court Saturday. I've watched Syracuse play more than once, I'm not impressed, had the refs not cheated on Saturday they would have 2 losses. Thats a fact, W Virginia is the best team in the Big Least.

@ JD cuse You cannot deny our top 6 is better then yours.Uk has 5 guys projected to go in the first with AD goin #1 overall and MKG,T.Jones,D.Lamb and M.Teague goin anywhere from #7 MKG to #27 Doron Lamb.Cuse has Waiters,Melo and Joseph goin late first to second.Thats really good but not compared to UK good. Both teams are final four material and I hope we get a shot to play.Cuse has to make it out the second round first though.

swagg.. you missed my point completely.. but sure its so clear your top 6 are better than cuses.. doubt you can name who cuses top 6 actually are. last year brandon knight pushed uk over the edge and offered the kind of leadership rarely found in a freshmen pg. when your difference maker is in the post.. it makes depth that much more important. keep on flaunting that swag of yours.. but maybe back it up with something more than testosterone. davis and gilchrist are lotto picks .. jones is late first round talent. cuse has three future first rounders and two guys who have the talent but need more seasoning. our top 6 is irrelevant as the team has interchangeable parts. it would be a good game.. i think our zone with melo and the size of the backcourt would give uk trouble. davis would be a problem for our bigs and our guards getting to the rim.. in many ways it would be a game of two immovable forces and one has to win.. i hope we have the opportunity to see it happen. so swagg i hope you are ready to eat crow if your wrong..

I will remind you last year UK had only 6 players. They beat OH. St. and UNC to go to the finial 4. Their talent is even deeper this year.

You must be an older gent erack.I myself love the cats when they play with high emotion.Screamin like a madman after a dunk or starin someone down after a big shot.Thats what was wrong with TJ. Even Cal said he wanted to see that fire back in him on the court.I love it myself and wish AD did it more

I'm just glad they are playing with class. I get so tired of players jumping in the other team's faces when they make a play. Jones was doing that a lot last year and early this year...humiliation can be a good he is showing maturity and leadership. This could be the start of something special.
