UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

By Gary Parrish

Kentucky played another basketball game and killed another basketball team on Saturday.

This time the victim was LSU.

And it's starting to look like the Wildcats are the lone trustworthy thing in the sport.

Sure, John Calipari will continue to question his team and build others up because that's what he does. But there's no denying that the third-year Kentucky coach doesn't just have the nation's most talented roster. He's also got the country's top team. And the Wildcats are playing like it. And they're just a wild 3-pointer away from sitting here in late January with a 22-0 record.

Think about that.

If Christian Watford's buzzer-beater doesn't swish, Kentucky is undefeated.

Nobody else is literally one shot away from perfection.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame. Ohio State was handled at Illinois. Missouri was handled at Oklahoma State. North Carolina was handled at UNLV (and destroyed at Florida State). Baylor was handled at home by Missouri. Kansas was handled at Iowa State. Duke was handled at Temple. Georgetown was handled at Pittsburgh. Michigan State was handled at Northwestern and Michigan. And I just listed everybody else in the top 10 of the latest AP poll. Put another way, seven (Syracuse, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State) of the nine schools not named Kentucky that are ranked in the top 10 have lost to a currently unranked opponent, and the other two have either lost at home (Baylor to Missouri) or been routed (North Carolina at FSU).

Meantime, the Wildcats are rolling.

I'm not saying they'll finish the regular season with one loss.

But they sure look like they could, don't they?

We agree to disagree.  Good night.  May the best team win in April.  That is all I desire, even if it isn't the Wildcats.

well i can respect your point.. passion gets in the way of many things.. i dont get much time to post except when traveling and when i read one sided arguments that are clearly misinformed standpoints its a pet peeve. when you grow up and everything you want requires doing things against the grain it becomes part of your nature.. the railroad is tough i grew up working at the age of 9 on a farm and it hasnt been easy since. You have to admit if i posted that cuse has a far better resume and much better team and we would likely dominate uk.. i would get plastered with negativity... thats a given.. but written words cant always carry the message all that well so it gets put out of context quickly. enjoy your evening and hats off to you for working for a public service as i know how hard yall work and that it aint for the weak of heart.

popeye.. context .. context im guessing you have thicker skin than that? or is it you just care more about dissecting small things to toss a red herring out there and avoid offering more than a holiday inn analysis?

My skin is very thick and work for the Railroad which treats its workers like a dictator.  My interest perked up when you continued to be abrasive and your tone.  I talk to people in the same way they talk to me.  If you are respectful, than I will treat you the same way.  If you are unpleasant, then I can be that way.

BTW my red herring as you called it was pointing out your debating technique.  Might be in the same league as your phrase,"holidaly inn analysis".

usm.. much obliged.. and i get your passion.. su fans share that passion.. its a tradition and a legacy.. mind you i still find it hard to believe you all accept calipari .. imo he is scum.. and I know of a few who will swear by that on the basis of external interactions far from the hoops court.. i liked tubby and really thought billy donovan would end up there.. and if he had gone there imo you all would have another title already.. but thats just my opinion many hate boeheim just the same..

another red herring popeye.. and yes i set it aside every day amidst the 200k folks my group was able to keep in their homes despite that those financial losses could put myself and thousands of others on the street.. i come from nothing and took the hard road to success.. dont mix pride with confidence.. two very different things.

therefore many times kids right out of school are not prepared to control their emotions or put their own pride aside to learn the business

Have you ever looked in the mirror??  Just a question.......

By the way can you point out these 12 good teams you have beat thus far this year thats better than UK has played and beat because i just dont see it.

Then you talk bad about IU, but atleast they beat ND something you couldnt do and they have WAAAAY better wins this year than your team. They beat UK OSU ND Mich better than your team has done
