UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

By Gary Parrish

Kentucky played another basketball game and killed another basketball team on Saturday.

This time the victim was LSU.

And it's starting to look like the Wildcats are the lone trustworthy thing in the sport.

Sure, John Calipari will continue to question his team and build others up because that's what he does. But there's no denying that the third-year Kentucky coach doesn't just have the nation's most talented roster. He's also got the country's top team. And the Wildcats are playing like it. And they're just a wild 3-pointer away from sitting here in late January with a 22-0 record.

Think about that.

If Christian Watford's buzzer-beater doesn't swish, Kentucky is undefeated.

Nobody else is literally one shot away from perfection.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame. Ohio State was handled at Illinois. Missouri was handled at Oklahoma State. North Carolina was handled at UNLV (and destroyed at Florida State). Baylor was handled at home by Missouri. Kansas was handled at Iowa State. Duke was handled at Temple. Georgetown was handled at Pittsburgh. Michigan State was handled at Northwestern and Michigan. And I just listed everybody else in the top 10 of the latest AP poll. Put another way, seven (Syracuse, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State) of the nine schools not named Kentucky that are ranked in the top 10 have lost to a currently unranked opponent, and the other two have either lost at home (Baylor to Missouri) or been routed (North Carolina at FSU).

Meantime, the Wildcats are rolling.

I'm not saying they'll finish the regular season with one loss.

But they sure look like they could, don't they?

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

classy post and sour grapes .. no thanks.. i will gladly be back.. what kills me is do you really expect and think uk is above all and godly this year? look , numerically su has a tougher schedule , they havent played any top 5 opponents buy have manhandled many others and played a lot of solid teams. uk has a ton of talent but is not a deep team and has played a much more unbalanced schedule. davis is good but he still needs to get stronger and he is a frosh along with gilchrist and teague. uks backcourt can be exposed. cuse has experience, depth and melo is developing quickly and is a top 5 shotblocker. its one thing to post about college hoops but your arrogant we are godly and unbeatable is hilarious. cuse is 22-1 and every bit as formidable as uk .. if you cant see that you dont know a thing about basketball. good luck to uk and ill be here no worries the question is will you in your youth drops you in the 2nd round?

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Indiana 73  Kentucky 72

Indiana 9-15 60%  3PT (Like you said - Good Defense)
Kentucky  2-7 28% 3PT

A good 3pt night can beat a good defense, and it's bound to happen.  The more quality players you have the more different styles you can play - transition, 3 PT, hack-attack, half-court, in the paint, press to turnover.  No doubt UK is a solid team, but again Cuse's quality bench (and UK's lack of it) gives them more ways to skin a Cat on any given night...when needed....provided Boeheim figures it out early enough in the game.  Hope to see you in New Orleans!

JDcuse, I started to do the normal "what a friggin' idiot" thing, but really, what is the point?  You're obviously still sucking on sour grapes from your cute little team there losing the number one spot, a spot they only got to begin with because of a fluke 3....that's right, moron, we are 1 point from undefeated, and you aren't....we are number 1, and you aren't.  Tell you what, when the season ends, we will see who went further, but for some reason I don't see you having the nuts to show back up when your team doesn't get past Sweet Siteen, AT BEST.  And you're banking on Melo?  LMAO.

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

The real scary thing is that UK has not reached its potential......frankly, Lamb, Teague, Wiltjer, Jones, and Miller are all at about 75% of their ceiling......or less. If these guys get it together, the sky is the limit. But make no mistake, there are at least 5-8 teams capable of beating them if they don't come to play......But if both teams play up to their ability level, UK is a good 4-5 points better than anyone......including Syracuse.

perspective .. you have none.. so which is it the 12-9 lsu squad 12-9 auburn team or 10-11 tennessee squad that is your best road win? nice try kansas in nyc is not a road win. you remind me of the many cocky kids out of college i have to fire once a month because they run their mouth before understanding what they are saying. melo is the key to su on defense he protects the rim to allow the su guards to leak out on the break. he is the key on offense to the high pick and roll and draws the defense to open up the wings. hoops is not all statistics.. you would know that if you understood how fragile your point is. too quick to fire off an insult before you realize its already come back and hit you in the forehead. btw nyc is a neutral win.. su had two of them in december. notre dame was a bad loss.. first game without the most impactful player on our team. uk hasnt been challenged for more than a few games. thats unbalanced and doesnt mean your schedule is better. again look at the numbers and quit guessing. watch a bit more hoops too.. you arent even close in your armchair response.

LOL...another dumb comment by a Cuse fan saying today has been our best road win to date. I guess when we beat KU in New York by 10 or more ON THE ROAD i guess that dont count for nothing. Then you say Melo makes that big a difference well i went back to his past few games and his game at pitt he scored a big 4 points and like 5 rebounds. When Davis doesn't score much he still makes up for it with like 14 rebounds and like 6 block shots. Face it dude Fab Melo is not all that and hes what a 2nd round NBA pick if that right now?? Nice try but Cuse didnt even play away from home till there 11th game of the season...scared??

Your first true road game vs a good team you lost!!! Hell your next road game vs a ok UC team you almost lost, but let me guess FAB MELO FAB MELO FAB MELO!!!!!
