UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

Kentucky played another basketball game and killed another basketball team on Saturday.

This time the victim was LSU.

And it's starting to look like the Wildcats are the lone trustworthy thing in the sport.

Sure, John Calipari will continue to question his team and build others up because that's what he does. But there's no denying that the third-year Kentucky coach doesn't just have the nation's most talented roster. He's also got the country's top team. And the Wildcats are playing like it. And they're just a wild 3-pointer away from sitting here in late January with a 22-0 record.

Think about that.

If Christian Watford's buzzer-beater doesn't swish, Kentucky is undefeated.

Nobody else is literally one shot away from perfection.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame. Ohio State was handled at Illinois. Missouri was handled at Oklahoma State. North Carolina was handled at UNLV (and destroyed at Florida State). Baylor was handled at home by Missouri. Kansas was handled at Iowa State. Duke was handled at Temple. Georgetown was handled at Pittsburgh. Michigan State was handled at Northwestern and Michigan. And I just listed everybody else in the top 10 of the latest AP poll. Put another way, seven (Syracuse, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State) of the nine schools not named Kentucky that are ranked in the top 10 have lost to a currently unranked opponent, and the other two have either lost at home (Baylor to Missouri) or been routed (North Carolina at FSU).

Meantime, the Wildcats are rolling.

I'm not saying they'll finish the regular season with one loss.

But they sure look like they could, don't they?

UK looks like the sport's only trustworthy team

wow .. thats a lot of words to show a lack of research. uk just got their best road win.. its almost feb. uks schedule is top heavy. a few tough games a whole lotta fluff and thats it. you beat unc , louisville at home and kansas (before they got their act together) on neutral ground. please help me whats your toughest game after that? melo is the anchor to cuses defense. he is just a irreplaceable as davis except cuse is deeper than uk and more experienced and they have played a much more balanced schedule. uk has great individual talent and i would love to see su vs uk. su attacks the rim with physical guards and has more size and depth. to say uk wins 4 of 5 is foolish. have you seen how young inexperienced backcourts do against the cuse? just ask uf. if uk lost davis they are a fringe top 25 team which is what they become when he is forced to the bench. last years uk team had a true pg and played as a unit. also they had liggins who at times was the heart and soul of that team. glichrist and davis are bigtime but uk fans are fooling themselves with this superiority complex. you have major talent but flaws as well. you havent been really tested outside of unc at home and unc has shown to be shaky on the road in conference play. will look forward to seeing uk vs cuse.. would love a rematch of 96. dont know if you get there but good luck none the less.

You cuse fans just flat out kill me that you really think that your better than UK. Lets look at each teams records to start with

UK: Has 2 wins vs two top 5 teams in UNC and UL a win vs a top 10 team in KU

Cuse: Best wins vs FL and MU you know the team LSU beat REAL bad!

Then you go on to say the Big Easy is just sooooo much better than the SEC but last time i checked the SEC is 10-10 vs the Big Easy so yeah your right there soooo much better.

Next you say you only lost because of Fab Melo then try to say UK would lose without Davis, but Melo is no where near as good as davis or as inportant as he avg 13 points a game something like 11 or 12 rebounds and 5 block shots and Melo avg what 7 points a game and like 5 rebounds give me a break!! Miller our 6th man off the bench has better numbers with like 10 points a game and 4-5 rebounds. Plus UK has 6 players score in double digits name another team out there than does that. You don't have one players thats better than any player on our starting 6. The ONLY thing you have going for you over UK your bench is deeper, but we only need 7 players to beat ANY team in the country!

Hell you we given the win vs WV when you cheated with the goal tending today or i beat WV would of given you your 2nd loss today, but keep saying Fab Melo make all the difference to your team if it makes you feel better. Hell Jones has been not doing great and he was are best player, but guess what UK kept winning and now that jones is back after tonight it just makes UK that much better.

Tell Fab to hit the

And I'm sure "all of the national pundits" believe if fairleigh dickinson is hitting their 3's NOBODY can beat them.  Cuse is great at scoring in transition, they can run with anyone, Jardine is a selfless assist machine (one of the best assist/turnover ratio's in the country) and they are a great pressing team forcing turnovers and scoring easy buckets.  Go look at stat sheet for ANY game Cuse has played this year and marvel at the number of players that score.  You will see 9-11 players scoring consistently.  Again, Uk has 6 players and they do play great defense, but there is going to be a game where the ref's call it tight and they are going to run out of fouls before Cuse would.  By the way, never use the word "IF" in any post again......anything can happen in speculation....but most often it does not.  Go Orange.

Big difference. Up until the Cuse was undefeated pretty much everyone heard was that they were 10 deep. UK only runs 7 deep. With or without Melo you should have walked away with a W.

Only one problem with your assessment of a Cuse vs UK game...HOW are you going to score???  DEFENSE is UK's STRENGTH..and they can score MANY WAYS.  ALL the national pundits have agreed that, if UK is hitting their 3's in a game, NOBODY can beat them.  But they also can win a "grind it out inside" half-court game.  I'd like to see this game too, but if they play it 5 times UK would win 4 so you would need your BEST GAME to beat us while we could win with our AVERAGE GAME.  I'll take that all the way to the bank!! Cool

Yeah where you said handled... most of those teams weren't handled in the losses they lost by less than 8 coulda just said lost but I guess handled makes ya sound cool. But yes UK is clearly the best team in college basketball right now and everybody knows it.

Syracuse was handled at Notre Dame.
Yes, SU was handled on the road without their key big man Melo. I'm sure if UK went into a hostile environment like Notre Dame without Davis, they'd lose too. Also, why aren't you giving any credit to SU for winning without Melo? Sure it's not pretty, but they're still doing what few teams could probably do, win against decent competition without their best big man.
