Tom Izzo acknowledged Tuesday night that Michigan State is a "different team" without Draymond Green.

Luckily for Izzo, he won't have to find out just how different.

The Michigan State star injured his left knee late in Tuesday's loss at Illinois and left the arena on crutches, but an MRI performed early Wednesday showed that Green suffered nothing more than a sprain, a school official told CBSSports.com. The 6-foot-7 forward is officially listed as day-to-day. Michigan State hosts Michigan on Sunday. Both teams are nationally ranked and 6-3 in the Big Ten.

Green is averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

He's a National Player of the Year candidate.

The University of Michigan counts millions of fans along with it's half million alumni...the vast majority of whom look at Teres Minor as a degenerate disgusting embarrassment.

I realize his bout with the flu had nothing to do with his knee injury, but his sickness had alot to do with his limited minutes of play (three fouls in fairly rapid succession).  His leadership is definately needed on the floor and I hope there are no follow-on issues stemming from the sprain.

Glad that Green didnt tear anything in his knee.  The kid is a good player and i like his game.  If he cant go, I like Michigan's chances at the Bres, but I would rather see him healthy to see these two good teams go at each other once again.  The question is, do you rest Green if his is like 75% because he will be needed more for OSU and a tourney run and a loss to Michigan really donest hurt MSU that much in the big picture.  Sparty is going to be there at the end of the season and going to be a real tough out in the tourney, I just dont want to see Green try to push it too early and hurt it more in a game while a rivalry, wont make or break the season.

Glad for Sparty that probably their best player isnt hurt too bad, i always enjoy rooting for the B1G in the dance.  Michigan would have an easier chance against Sparty if he doesnt go, but beating the full Sparty team is always more enjoyable.  Good luck Sparty fans, this game will be awesome on Sunday.

If Sparty wins, his knee was "fine."  If they lose, they will use the injury as an excuse, just like they always do when they lose.

And that brings up the difference between Sparty fans and Michigan fans.  Sparty fans cheer for their opponents to be injured.  Michigan wants to beat opponents straight up with a full roster and no excuses.   I hope Green is jumping out of the gym by Sunday.  I also hope Michigan attains the "Grand Slam" of four in a row against Sparty.

As they say in football, Spartan Tears Taste like Sugar.

A totally classless act you are... Have not said a thing about a totally classless act of a coach throwing a chair.  Did your parents have any real athletes in the family?  You are pathetic...and coming to the big city in iowa????  LOL wipe off your feet and your mouth before you post again.  You left hayseed and manure all over your keyboard.

That big dummy hopped around 1/2 hour after the injury like he may not live.  You would have thought they were going to have amputate it on the bus ride home.  What a pus$y.

When Sparty comes to the big city, we'll have something in store for em.   REAL talk!
