The Poll Attacks are now taking reader requests.

Read and see.

Let's go.

Associated Press poll: I was gonna spend this space Poll Attacking anybody who voted for Creighton because the Bluejays shouldn't be on anybody's ballot, plain and simple. Plus, I warned voters Saturday against ranking Creighton. And I hate it when people don't listen to me. So I sat down at this computer ready to tear apart the eight voters who voted for Creighton. But then I got a Tweet from a reader.
@GaryParrishCBS Pete Gilbert needs a good poll attacking. Wisconsin unranked, Murray St. left in the top 10.
Needless to say, I shifted gears.

What the F, Pete Gilbert?

How can anybody not have Wisconsin ranked?

The Badgers are 19-6 overall, 8-4 in the Big Ten, and they've won seven of their past eight with the lone loss coming by single-digits to No. 6 Ohio State. Five of their six overall losses are to teams that are currently ranked. The Badgers are top five at KenPom.com, top 25 at CollegeRPI.com, No. 11 in our Top 25 (and one) and on 64 of the 65 AP ballots. In other words, pretty much everybody (and every computer) in this world thinks Wisconsin belongs in the top 25 ... except Pete Gilbert, who omitted the Badgers but put Murray State in the top 10.

Now I don't wanna spend too much time on Murray State.

I'm going there this weekend.

I wanna be loved.

But I will point out that the Racers have zero wins over currently ranked teams and a home loss to Tennessee State, which is ranked 141st at CollegeRPI.com and 184th at KenPom.com. Murray State is good, no question. But top-10 good? That's a stretch. And at least 15 spots better than Wisconsin? That's a bigger stretch.

So get it together, Pete.

Let's not do this again next Monday.

Coaches poll: And now to Creighton ...

Because the same Bluejays who got 20 points in the AP poll got 30 points in the coaches poll, meaning the coaches are 50 percent sillier than the writers, which sounds about right, actually. For those who haven't been keeping track, Creighton stopped making shots a little more than a week ago and began what is now a three-game losing streak. So Greg McDermott's team is 21-5 with two wins over top 25 teams and four losses to teams that are currently unranked. They're probably gonna lose their league by two games. They're not headed the right direction. Bottom line, there was a time and place to be ranking Creighton. But now is not that time. And here is not that place. So let's let the Bluejays start shooting better than 30 percent from 3-point range again before we start considering them for top 25 ballots again. Deal?

The Poll Attacks: Not ranking Wisconsin is dumb

VAN111 guess you like the selfish ghetto ball over team play.  The fact is WI wins and teams don't like to play them.

Snubbed, really? If anything, they are way OVERRATED! Not only do they play methodical/boring basketball, when you are 252nd in scoring, 176th in rebounding, 268th in assists, 212th in FG PCT, and are still ranked 15th in the AP poll, 17th in the coaches, and a rediculous 11th by your CBC plus 1 poll.

They are 2-5 against quality ranked teams, and 1 of these wins was from an Illini Team that is sinking to the bottom of Lake Superier pretty quickly.

Wisconsin is getting snubbed, what a joke. I think they are a border line top 25 team right now. Should they beat MSU, I will up them a bit, but they will lose this game too, to another over rated B1G Team. Should be a great game if you like wrestlers playing basketball. Final Score 41-39, you pick the winner.

As for Murray State, I never felt they belonged in the top 10 period, but you guys voted them as low as what, 7th? I don't know who this Pete guy is, or really care what he thinks, bottom line is 1 loss shouldn't drop somebody from the single digits to the mid 20's otherwise all you pollsters don't know your jobs in the first place.

Poll attacks should be focused on teams that belong in the polls that are being snubbed, as it may mean the difference to some teams if they get an at large bid or not, not centered on some rediculous voter who is out of touch maybe. Why don't you pick on some of the Coaches who vote, they obviously don't watch the games.

Badgers are accustomed to being snubbed...

I give you credit, Gary --you are one of the few who sees this for what it really is.  You've noted this in the past.  This (lack of respect for Wisconsin) occurs every year --either at the start of the season, or someplace in the middle of it.  Yet, in the end, Wisconsin is always in the NCAA tourney, and is always a force to be reckoned with (sweet 16 this past season).  Inversely, the Big Ten is stronger than people give it credit for, and as a result the its teams have a few more losses than some of the other conferences do.  On the surface 19-6 may not look as sexy as 23-2; but that is all relative to who you've played.  By nature people will forget that, and don't take the time to weigh the facts ; which is fine, unless you are a sports writer or someone who is supposed to be knowledgeable on the subject (a poll voter, for example).  Wisconsin will just use this as a motivater, as they do every year.  One last note:  The Badgers have uncharacteristically lost a few home-games this season (mostly while the students were gone on Christmas vacation --thus no Grateful Red); but they actually do have the best road-record in the conference right now (9-2).

Let's go easy on Creighton.  Yes they've lost a few games but they are also 21-5, 11-4 in a top 10 league, 5-4 v. the top 100 rpi and even with the losing streak 7-3 in their last 10.

Are Florida St (7 losses), Murray St (314 SOS), Florida (6 losses, blasted at home by TN), or Notre Dame (8 losses) really that much better than Creighton?

Not sure this is the place, but ihave seen several people comment on the what rankings the selection committee uses.  What do you think of ESPN's BPI Rankings?  Do you think they will gain any relevance with the selection committee?  I for one think they will.

Only the RPI really matters toward who gets in and seeding, the rankings mean nothing.  And at the end of the day, you still have to beat every team in your path to be the champ, whether it's in the first round or the finals.  Seedings are just for the fans, any team that gets caught up in worrying about seedings isn't going very far.

This statement isn't even close to being true.  Seedings are extremely important when it comes to how easy or hard the games will be for a certain team.  It's a lot easier for the higher seeded team in a 2-15 matchup than a 7-10 matchup.

Probably not getting much love in Murray KY my friend after that. CBS Sports RPI has Southern Miss at number 11 and Memphis at 19, both teams loosing to the, supossedly over ranked, Racers. And beating Memphis at home, if I may add. I would wager they will beat St Mary's as well. Also holding a 24-1 record, which should demand respect no matter the conference they are in. I would also say loosing to TSU is probably the best thing that could have happened to them heading into the OVC tournament and on to the dance. TSU obviously played the best game they will play all year, shooting the lights out and knocking down every prayer they sent up.

The Poll Attacks: Not ranking Wisconsin is dumb

Wisconsin may be top 5 at kenpom.com, but adampom.com has Wisconsin 22nd. Gary, please stop shilling for kenpom.com and their rankings. Who cares about them? IF the selection committee uses them, tell us, and it will be more relevant. Right now, their rankings smell like they are from a bunch of your analytics buddies with a website (and an easy to perceive East Coast bias).

Here's dumb...dropping SDSU 6 spots on the basis of a 2 point loss at UNLV. You wanna flip-flop UNLV and SDSU based on that loss, fine, but 6 spots. You didn't watch the game if you feel that was justified. One team was going to lose...a 6 spot drop on a 2 point loss for EITHER team is criminally dumb.

Attack that.
