JUCO star/Memphis recruit dismissed from school

By Gary Parrish

Junior College standout Geron Johnson has been dismissed from Garden City Community College in Kansas after a reported third legal incident in recent weeks, which makes it unlikely the 6-foot-3 guard will ever play at Memphis.

Johnson committed to Memphis earlier this month.

A source close to the Memphis program told CBSSports.com on Thursday that Josh Pastner is aware of the development but that the third-year coach hasn't yet spoken with the Garden City staff or Johnson himself. The source added Memphis is still gathering information and that Johnson's future with the Tigers is uncertain, though it should be noted that even if Memphis honored the commitment it's doubtful Johnson could now qualify academically given that he's been removed from classes.

"I wish him the best," said Garden City athletic director Kris Baumann. "Things just did not work out for the young man within our program."

This is the second junior college to dismiss Johnson. The Dayton native was kicked out of Chipola College in Florida after his freshman season of basketball that followed a similarly troubling high school career during which Johnson was mostly ineligible and arrested for burglary. He is, however, an immensely talented prospect, which is why he's been given chance after chance after chance.

"If he qualifies academically I would still take a chance," Tweeted JUCO recruiting analyst Brad Winton. "Call me crazy, but he's that good."

JUCO star/Memphis recruit dismissed from school

This is why I refuse to engage Kentucky fans any more. I don’t
hate anyone; you make up crap and claim it’s the truth. Please tell me or show
where I have said I have hatred for anyone? Please do and show me evidence….
That show 'Luck' is actually about him.)

This is funny, because I thought I had a semi-colin before the parenthesis (for the wink) at the end of the paragraph, to show the comedy in the fact that anyone can make overarching generalizations, but I accidently left it out.
One...Your all blind sheep and believe in whatever your coach say’s as the gossip.
Thank you for enlightening us simple folk, White-Meat.  I am a beleiver that actions speak louder then words!  How has Cal been doing at UK?  94-13!  Is that good?
Two.  Calpari has said many times while in Memphis he was FIRED as the Nets head coach and failed. His words not mind

Again, did I ever say Cal had not failed in the NBA?  I do not know why you keep bringing it up, when I am agreeing with you.

First Calipari hasn’t won crap but in recruiting. He leads the nation in vacated final fours.

I never mentioned Duke or Coach K once.

You made the previous statement.  I utilized the absurdity that is the NCAA's selective enforcement of very similar situations, to show the ridiculousness that is you first statement.  That is why I brought up Duke and Coach K (the best coach in D-1).

This is why I have never read your post.

You never read my post, yet you are responding to them?!  I guess that is some more white-meat logic.

Your version isn’t debatable when you make up junk to suite your argument
or situation.

My 'VERSION' of what?  Oh, and what am I 'making up'?  Enlighten me my grace!

Jesus Christ…What is your fixation with all things Memphis?

First Calipari hasn’t won crap but in recruiting. He leads
the nation in vacated final fours.

Second Calipari was also a failure in the NBA and Pitino at
least as a National Championship to his resume.

Third, Tubby Smith at least as  a Nation Championship to his resume.

So, neither of those two coaches is failures in my opinion.

First, Cal has been beating all of the experienced teams with scores of 5 and 4-star talent (yes, Cal has them too), that have more then 1 or 2 years of experience.

Second, did I ever say Cal had not failed in the NBA?  Hmmm, I do not think so.

Third, Yes, Pitino won the championship at UK.  Like I stated in my post.

Fourth, Tubby won his chip with Pitinos players.

Fifth, where did I say that either of them WERE failures?  Yes, I said Pitino experienced failure in the NBA, but I never said he, himself was a failure.

Sixth, Yes, Cal has some Final-4's vacated, yet, the NCAA is super selective on their enforcement.  Coach K., who many reguard as the best D-1 College coach of all time, played an ineligable player (Corey Maggette), who actually admitted in a court of law that he accepted money (they went to a Final-4).  Thus, he forfeited his eligibility.  Yet, they did nothing to Duke.  Memphis was penalized for a invalid test score, that the NCAA never proved Rose did not take.  Yet, Memphis/Cal had to vacate a Final-4, even though they cleared Cal of any wrong doing.  In one of the instances the evidence is there (Corey Maggette), while in the other it was never actually proven.  Who got the shaft?

But, then again White Meat, you already have hatred for Cal, so nothing anyone says will enlighten you.  So in the end, Cal is the cheatiest cheat on earth, can not coach a flea to hop, and has a hidden history of fixing horse racing events (the actual reason he took the job at UK.  That show 'Luck' is actually about him.)

Go whoever is not UK!

Bigtigerfan,   Can't you get over the fact FedX money couldn't keep Cal at Memphis.  Kentucky BlueGrass and all those NCAA Championship banners hanging from the rafters in Rupp Arena  looks a lot better than FedX trucks and I know because I used to drive one of those stupid trucks.   Cal will be hanging  number 8 in Rupp before long and a Championship banner is something he most likely wouldn't have done at Univ. of Memphis.

RayRay,  What happened to Cal at Mass was not his fault and if you read the NCAA records you will  see he reported the violations and that is why he wasn't named in the violations. At Memphis he isn't  not named in any of the violations again.  So before you BLAME  him you need to go read the NCAA records on the violations then you will see him isn't named, the violations says and I quote,  The coach wasn't involved in any of the violations.  PLEASE,  Read the violations for your self.

Judging by the amount of verbage necessary to defend your position, I'd say White Meat 1, RationalCat zip. Oh, and keep on comparing Cal to Coach K with regard to sleaziness factor. Only UK fans thinks that dog will hunt. LOL

You mean like you guys
did to Pitino and Tubby Smith. You should get out of that glass house soon.

First off, Pitino left UK for failure in the NBA. He then went to our ARCH
Rival! The thing is I do not hate Pitino, for he jump started the beast. The
thing that UK fans hate, is the UL fan that guaranteed they would win
championships, and still live on his accomplishments at UK, since he barely has
any in his 11 years at UL.

Tubby, is widely respected for his accompishments at UK. The fanbases issues
with him, were with his slow style of play, that combined with his recruiting
(last couple season were painful). He decided to leave for Minnesota, becaue he
did not like the pressure of the job anymore. Just take a look at his Minnesota
accomplishments!!
