Don't write off the idea that Kidd-Gilchrist would return for his sophomore season. (US Presswire)

It’s around this time every year when we start to see some of the top players in the country swear they’re returning to college next season. And then, come April, they go pro anyway.

As a result, most people took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s comments after Kentucky’s win over Vanderbilt with a grain of salt.

“I’m graduating here. I’m not going nowhere. I’m staying at Kentucky,” Kidd-Gilchrist said, according to Brett Dawson of Rivals.com. “I’m dead serious. I don’t know why y’all laughing.”

Will Kidd-Gilchrist definitely return to school? I have no idea. I wouldn’t doubt that he’s thinking about it, though.

Kidd-Gilchrist is just wired differently than most of the star freshmen and college players these days. He’s always been that way. He has never truly carried himself like a superstar, and even his skillset doesn’t resemble that of a typical “future NBA All-Star.” Kidd-Gilchrist outworks players, he outhustles players and he’s a winner above everything else.

If Anthony Davis had said the same thing about returning to school, would I believe him? Not a chance. He’s the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Kidd-Gilchrist has moved all the way up to No. 3 in several mock drafts, but I don’t think he’s overly concerned with that. He’s not the kind of player who will regress with another year in college. Kidd-Gilchrist doesn’t have a ton of people feeding him all sorts of conflicting information; he has a good support team around him that will help him make the right decision.

Like I said, do I think Kidd-Gilchrist is a lock to return to Kentucky for his sophomore season? No. But I certainly wouldn’t write off the idea when it comes to him.

Kidd-Gilchrist: I'm staying at Kentucky

So Kidd-Gilchrist says he is graduating at UK.  Is he in the associates program??  Or does he plan to go pro and then earn his degree during the summers, thus "graduating from UK".  NO WAY he stays all 4 years.  Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.  And to even think he may come back for a second season is a strech.  I dont know for sure, but when was the last time someone was projected to go in the top 5 of the draft and came back to school?  I think he is telling UK fan what they want to hear...

Well at least he is getting paid at UK. At ND he would have to be concerned he might be molested.

If he went pro, would he make as much money?  I mean UK seems to pay prety well

------------------

Yeah, we pay them well. And, why not? Most people are like you in that are too stupid to prove it.
So, why not take advantage of other people's stupidity?

You can't get better than MKG. He is the ultimate warrior and a great person. If Shabazz is not confident enough to play the other wing, we don't want someone with such low self esteem. If he doesn't want to be the Robin for Batman, Pippen for Jordan, etc type next year and win a championship, so be it. But I don't think he wants to battle to make the tournament at UNLV and never be on tv. But that's just my opinion.

Kidd-Gilchrist: I'm staying at Kentucky

I think it is great for any young person to have the experience of four years of college . It was by far the most fun I have ever had and if I could go back to any point in my life to do over , it would be my first step on campus .

Shabazz can play the 2 with MKG at 3. It would work great.

Personally, I hope he stays even if it does cost us Mohammad. For me, I would rather have Kidd-Gilchrist. At least with him we know what we have, a hard working basketball player who has gained some experience. With Mohammad, you never know. He will most likely be one of the best college players, but you never know. And just because we keep Kidd-Gilchrist doesn't mean Mohammad isn't coming. It could work.

That would be Awesome if he returns!  If we lose Shabazz, so be it, but practicing against the best helps you become the best...  That is if you can handle it day in and day out.  GO CATS and thanks for a fantastically fun season so far!
