A misinterpretation in NCAA rules has cost Ole Miss contact opportunities with seven recruits for the class of 2012, according to The Clarion-Ledger.

Legislation enacted on August 1st of last year prohibits written scholarship offers until August 1st of prospective student-athletes’ senior year. Ole Miss mistakenly sent out written offers to players in September of their junior year.

"I think the NCAA knows where our heart was and where our mind was on this thing, and I feel good about what was said," Nutt told the Clarion-Ledger.

The violation was deemed a secondary violation by both the school and the NCAA and no further action will be taken.

“It was very inadvertent,” Nutt added. “It's a brand new rule. This rule just started.”

Ole Miss has self-imposed several penalties, including prohibiting correspondence with the affected recruits for 60 days and during the first 30 days of their senior years. The SEC office also made the school revoke the written offers and limited contact with coaching staff and recruits to five in-person exchanges. The names of the recruits were not released publicly.

bleedmaizenblue,

Slavery....really?  This is what happens when a feeble minded, insecure bigot can't back up an arguement with facts.

P.S.  While you attempt to use Kentucky and Vanderbilt as a punch-line, the truth is neither would have to cheat to whoop Michigan and put up 50+ points in the process against that limp wristed defense.

Hey bleedmaizenblue...you do realize that every SEC fan is not white right?  I love how every time someone wants to say something to anger an SEC fan they bring up slavery, or the civil war was lost so get over it, when people like me THANK the North for those things, but still the SEC is my conference, and I just find it silly when I see things like what he wrote like the SEC fan base is only one race.

Ole Miss commits secondary recruiting violation

CBS has become super soft.  But it was just a pic of a guy at the National Championship game holding a huge check that reads

"Cam Newtons Dad"    &n
bsp;     &
nbsp;
      $180.000

for:Chruch Repars
;  Signed Gene Chisizk

I like Cam and hope he does well in life but that is funny.

Jacky does a good job of proving the old saying true "better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and prove it" Its an article about Ole Miss not Auburn and there is more than 1 QB who took a laptop, but when you think the world revolves around you this is what happens.
