Darian Cooper, a 6'1", 290-pound defensive tackle from DeMatha High School, just gave Iowa's recruiting class a boost by committing to the Hawkeyes this morning. Cooper was expected to select between Iowa, Michigan, and Georgia Tech. The story was first reported by Washington Post reporter Josh Barr.

Cooper was one of our three uncommitted players to watch in the Big Ten, considering the amount of help both Iowa and Michigan need on their respective defensive lines. Cooper should have a good shot to play as a true freshman, though his physical similarity to top returning DT Mike Daniels means that barring injury to Daniels, Cooper shouldn't expect to start in 2011. Still, he's got a bright future in Iowa City and Iowa coaches are undoubtedly thrilled to have this late addition to the class.

More Signing Day coverage is here at CBS.

I live in the state of Iowa, that why I hate the Hawkeyes so much. I have to deal with their fans and their almost as bad as Nebraska and Ohio State fans.

Here you go RJSpanky. And by the way you really should remove the IA from your tag, kind of embarrasing you have that with NO sign of the Hawks on your favorites.

He took a late trip to Michigan to see if there was a change since Hoke took over.  Michigan wasn't even in his final three choices you jackwagon.  And get a clue.  Every major program in the country has issues worse than Iowa (DJK drug charges, players hospitalized), the only difference is that Iowa is a small knit area and ANY news is big news, thus the reason those instances were reported on.  It is well known that Coach Ferentz runs a tight ship, anyone with any familiarity of the program knows that.  Haters always going to hate.

So he choose getting a kidney disease from a workout that would like Lee Ermey cringe over a school with a better history, better facilities and a chance to play with one of the top defensive cordinators from the NFL last year( Greg Mattison was the Ravens DC last year and now he's Michigan's DC)? Probably a troubled kid who wants to go to a school where staying out of trouble and showing up for class are not mandatory. Be pissed all you want Hawkeye fans, you know deep down it's true.
