Auburn or Alabama? That’s a choice Cyrus Kouandjio will have the weekend to think about according to The Washington Post.

"I'm going to go through the weekend, sit down and talk to everybody," Kounadjio told the Post after school. "You know, see their opinions on things."

Kounadjio’s father said on Thursday that his son is also considering Iowa but it appears the Hawkeyes have been dropped as of Friday afternoon. The 6-foot-7, 300 pound offensive tackle also considered New Mexico earlier in the recruiting process.

Kounadjio’s family ties appear to be making the decision difficult with several outlets saying his parents favor Alabama, where his brother Arie is a freshman offensive lineman. Cyrus is MaxPrep’s third-ranked player overall and top offensive tackle for the class of 2011.

In the meantime, Alabama and Auburn fans have to be relieved that they will have a weekend to help recruit Kounadjio on his Facebook page.

Anyone who is not familiar with either program will be able to see the lack of class in your comments.  Barner hype??  Just look at the record on the field for the last 10 years.  Enough said!  No wait one more thing, the "Nick Who hat was about being the next Nick Fairley.  Had nothing at all to do with Saban.  You can go back to your XBox now.

Though Arie Kouandjio is on the Bama roster, he's been a red-shirted freshman, so we don't know for sure where new OL Coach Stoutland will end up placing him.  He may end up an offensive tackle, he may excel at other positions.  I don't have any Tuscaloosa contacts who might know what the coaches are planning especially at this point in the year.  How what Cyrus decides is affected by Arie I don't see.  Somehow it doesn't seem to have mattered in high school.  I hope Cyrus isn't influenced by barner hype that is left over from last season, because AU is not going to be the same team.  And as for character, I thought the "Nick Who?" on the back of the AU caps given to their commits was an example of their real "clASS" they always exhibit.

you know, obviously neither you nor tiko have ever been this good a player, or played at this level.  so it is amusing to read your immature quotes about an 18-year-old kid that is dealing with pressure neither one of you have ever had to deal with.  you think just b/c AU won a national championship (the first in 50 years...and it'll probably be another 50 for you see the next one) that your team is so good that they don't need the best players in the country?  i bet AU still wants him...and if he goes there and becomes a great lineman, you'll be cheering him, you hipocrites.  you two are exactly why people in this state think the "AU family" things is a bunch of crap.

and BTW...I'm sure he is "man enough"...and would pancake your tail every play.  maybe it's a good thing you sit in the stands.

From what I understand, the two brothers play the same position.  Why would you want to go somewhere and compete with your own brother for playing time.  I can see why you would not want to go to a rival, but by going to Bama, the two brothers would basically become rivals for playing time.  The kid is spending too much time listening to others try and tell him what to do.  He just needs to go away by himself and think all of this out.  If he wanted to go to Bama, he would have gone there.  It sure seems that the only reason Bama is in the discussion is because of family pressure.

Friday Kouandjio update

I have followed this story on numerous websites and I am amazed how hard people are on an eighteen year old doing the unthinkable...changing his mind! How dare he. I am quite certain that when most of the people on these various sites were eighteen they changed their minds on relatively smaller decisions numerous times. I have no clue about this guys character but until he does anything for us to question his intelligence let's hold of on some of the venom.
