Who: Rock Hill (S.C.) defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. MaxPreps number one overall player for the class of 2011.
What’s the big deal: It takes all of one play to see why Clowney is at the top of everyone’s list in 2011. "Clowney is a freak of nature," CBS Sports recruiting expert Tom Lemming said. "He's the best I've seen since Mario Williams.” The 6-foot-6, 240 pound end is a terrific blend of size and speed and his ability to chase down a running back or quarterback is off the charts. Watch some of his highlights (below) and it's no surprise when you hear he racked up 29.5 sacks and 162 tackles his senior year.
When: He will announce on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, which is also his birthday. The announcement will be at 10:15 AM ET and will be live on ESPN.
Considering: Clemson, South Carolina and Alabama.
Best Guess: South Carolina. The latest reports have Clowney deciding between the Gamecocks and the Tigers, which is no surprise since many expected him to stay close to home. Steve Spurrier has made Clowney priority number one from the beginning of the recruiting process and if he works his magic like he did Marcus Lattimore last year, the big defensive end will be suiting up for the Old Ball Coach in the fall.
