Florida adds another on the defensive line

Florida defensive line coach Dan Quinn also doubles as the Gators' defensive coordinator and he's quickly leaving his mark on the class of 2012, picking a third defensive lineman commit in Tyrone (Ga.) tackle Quinteze Williams.

"We just liked it,” Ellis Williams, Quinteze’s father, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We feel like the atmosphere there is right for him. We liked the schemes and feel like the staff down there is just unmatched."

The 6-foot-4, 300 pound Williams plays on both lines in high school but will be coached by Quinn in college. He plans on graduating in December and enrolling early at Florida.

Holding offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USF, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, Williams selected Florida after the school relentlessly recruited him much better than even the in-state programs.

“Georgia Tech, they offered, but it was just an offer, you know?,” Mr. Williams told the paper. “They never really showed a lot of interest beyond that. Georgia approached us early on but they wanted him as an offensive lineman. They recently came forth with an offer as a defensive lineman, a couple of weeks ago. But they didn’t really show a lot of interest either and we were already leaning another way at that point.

“At the end of the day, you like who likes you.”

Williams is the eighth commitment for the Gators' class of 2012 and joins Stone Mountain (Ga.) tackle JaFar Mann and Venice (Fla.) tackle Dante Phillips as incoming defensive lineman.
