Colorado receivers coach Bobby Kennedy used to coach at Texas and since being brought onboard in Boulder, the Buffs recruiting has certainly picked up in the Lone Star State. The program added yet another commitment from the state on Tuesday after Duncanville (Texas) wide receiver Jeffrey Thomas made his verbal pledge.

“Really just the conference and the direction the team is going in," Thomas told about why he committed. "With the whole coaching staff and everybody, it just seemed like something I really wanted to be a part of.”

One of the draws to the university for the 6-foot-3, 175-pounder was Kennedy, a coach he had a previous relationship with and reconnected with upon receiving a scholarship offer from Colorado.

"I went to a Texas camp back in my sophomore year and he was coaching there," Thomas said. "I just really liked his energy there and the way he was telling us how to do stuff and coaching us up. So when he moved to Colorado and I started talking to him there, he was just really cool and we connected.”

Thomas also held scholarship offers from Iowa State, Boise State and Tulsa among others. He is the fifth commitment for the Buffs' 2012 class and first wide out planning on heading to Boulder to play college football. He caught 21 passes for 364 yards and eight touchdowns last year.
