When Lakewood (Ohio) offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State following the resignation of Jim Tressel, many pegged archrival Michigan as the odds-on favorite to land the top 100 prospect. Sunday afternoon, Kalis ended speculation and made it public that he will be a Wolverine.

Why Michigan? "The coaches, recruiting class, feeling comfortable," Kalis told 247Sports.com.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is ranked 61st overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and is just the latest addition to an impressive recruiting class by new head coach Brady Hoke. Kalis is the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Kalis, who went to school at Arizona State and played for the Vikings, Steelers and Bengals during an eight-year career.

Kalis told MGoBlog.com that he would have committed to Michigan several weeks ago following his first official visit but that his coach told him to wait. Instead, he committed following his second unofficial visit to the school on Sunday and has already started recruiting for the school.

The addition of Kalis gives the Wolverines 19 commitments in the class of 2012 and their third Top 100 player. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to verbally pledge as Hoke overhauls the offense in Ann Arbor.

Boren left Michigan because he didn't like the S&C program.  He left with no class muttering something about family values!!!

Ok Boren how'd the family values at OSU - cheating, breaking rules, earning thousands for selling trophys and a coach who lied and signed a statement that he didn't know of any violations on his team.    Then you have the compliance director accepting a car for season tickets!  Can we say dysfunctional family???

And FYI - Kalis approached Michigan after decommitting.  He didn't cause the ship to sink, he was part of the collateral damage caused by a cheating coach.

How soon we forget the Coop era and all of the UM victories in the series.  It's about to swing in UM's favor again!!!  Tressel is done and so is OSU...it will take at least 10 years to recover from the thrashing OSU will take from the NCAA!   GO BLUE

And how soon you forget that michigan is still one one of the worst put together teams in the nation. New coach who plays entirely different he won't recruit running quarterbacks and in these days you need a multi talents quarterback to succeed. Hoke will most likely take michigan down to the running game the big ten is known for. But with these quick defenses in the big ten, he'll take down michigan as well.

Is this the same Mike Vrabel who was arrested for a fourth degree felony in Indiana for stealing bottles of liquor from a store at 4 in the a.m.?  That Mike Vrabel?

Kyle Kalis' loss.  Ohio State doesn't need him.  Just because the kid is ranked 61st in his class doesn't guarantee him success on the college level or that the kid will work hard enough to succeed at Ohio State.  What the University gives this kid is the opportunity to play for a top program, play in front of national audiences, and to play in big time bowl games.  If the kid thinks he can do better elsewhere than he should play elsewhere.  Ohio State will continue to be national power that competes for national championships in football.

Maybe Kalis isnt into tattoos?   Didnt like the selection of loaner vehicles he would be driving at O$U?  Oh well we will take him.  Lets see how many more kids abandon ship and leave the state of Ohio.  Cant say I blame him.

I just can't believe any Ohio kid that was inches away from being a
Buckeye would ever choose tsun as a second or any pick
for that matter. If they make that choice I would have hated
for them to even have had the chance to wear a Buckeye uniform
even in this worst of times.....Go Bucks!
