When Lakewood (Ohio) offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State following the resignation of Jim Tressel, many pegged archrival Michigan as the odds-on favorite to land the top 100 prospect. Sunday afternoon, Kalis ended speculation and made it public that he will be a Wolverine.

Why Michigan? "The coaches, recruiting class, feeling comfortable," Kalis told

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is ranked 61st overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and is just the latest addition to an impressive recruiting class by new head coach Brady Hoke. Kalis is the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Kalis, who went to school at Arizona State and played for the Vikings, Steelers and Bengals during an eight-year career.

Kalis told that he would have committed to Michigan several weeks ago following his first official visit but that his coach told him to wait. Instead, he committed following his second unofficial visit to the school on Sunday and has already started recruiting for the school.

The addition of Kalis gives the Wolverines 19 commitments in the class of 2012 and their third Top 100 player. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to verbally pledge as Hoke overhauls the offense in Ann Arbor.

MICHIGAN RUNS CIRCLES AROUND Ohio State. You have to remember Ohio State is nothing more than a state supported university like Michigan State.Michigan is a tier one university Buckeyes dont even come close to the quality of  the University of Michigan.

Even with OSU going 8-1 against Mich w/Tressel, they are STILL 13 games below .500 against us in the all-time series. Pathetic. LOL. Ohio State University will always be trash and will always be beneath Michigan. ALWAYS. That's why you gutter sewage Buckeye fan brethren are always so angry all the time -- because every single one of you pieces of trash know that. Accept it you punk effers.

Ohiosteel23...typical OSU fan.  A kid leaves Ohio to got to Michigan..the state's #1 player and OSU's #1 recruit...and now you dog him and say he's flaky and not a leader.  I'm sure you were not saying that 48 hours ago.  Kallis has said the flood gates are going to be opening with even more ohio kids going north.  Michigan has another 4 Star DB from Akron who will announce this week as well.  Oh and Michigan thanks you for Charles Woodson, Desmond Howard, and Elvis Grbac...I'm sure they were lousy leaders and flaky as well.

Hey...Summershand...No one is forgetting the scandal in basketball.  it took Michigan 15 years to recover from that and that was not nearly as pervasive as OSU's transgressions in football.  Enjoy watching bowl games from home for 3 years OSU fans.  Michigan is getting your top recruits even BEFORE the NCAA announces its penalties.  Imagine how bad its going to get

The average GPA of incoming freshman into Ohio State is 3.5.  You should do you homework.

Of course we'll get all the Michigan fans now blasting OSU for these violations. Don't forget, though, you had your own violation problems recently. Tressell was wrong and so were the players involved, and they desrve what punishment they get. However, before everyone else gets up on their high horse to look down on Ohio State, remember what this is all about. Tressell lied and covered up a violation or violations  committed by five players. That was a huge error in judgement by a coach who I think was otherwise compliant with the NCAA.

It is  a shame that it went as far as it did, and is a black eye for OSU.  As I said, they deserve what punishment they get, but this is a relatively clean program and is not a habitual offender like the SMU program that got the death penalty. People should not compare the two.

Also, for the bit about not needing to even apply for the University of Michigan without a 4.0 average, you can spout that garbage if you want to, but there is no way that all of your football or basketball players have 4.0 averages coming out of high school. Not any of your athletic programs can boast of a 4.0 academic average. In fact, if I had time I could do the research and find some academically ineligible players at U of M. So if you're going to say something, shoot straight instead of exagerating your schools qualifications. I'll give credit where credit is due. Even to Michigan.

As an Ohio State fan I hate to see Kalis go, but I don't blame him, either. Good luck to him and hopefully he made the right decision regarding what is best for him

You are making us Michigan fans look horrible. Keep you trap closed please. That would be the best thing you can do for the university and its fans. BTW...I didn't have a solid 4.0 GPA when I was accepted.

I find all this petty snarky BS to be lacking! What we are all seemingly not understanding. BOTH programs have now tarnished there once pristine reputations!!! Comparing the transgressions is laughable. In fact, every one of you should be ashamed of yourselves!! This only takes away from what used to be the best rivalry in sports! I read all the vitrial the Buckeye fans are writing about Kyle Kalis. "If he doesnt want to be at OSU, who needs him". Remember 2 years ago when you accepted a "Michigan Man" into your locker room? Yes, Justin Boren choose to play at Michigan first. He would have stayed if not for a coaching change. The "Michigan Stink" didnt bother you when he was starting for the Buckeyes!! And Michigan fan, remember Justin Boren? All your good riddenence to "OSU Trash"!! Remember that, as all of you write your little comments on these message boards. He choose OSU before he choose Michigan! No kids should be held accountable to coaching cheating, or coaches changes/firings! With that all said, GO BLUEII

Better yet, go to Northwestern! It seems like we beat Michigan half of the time we play them in football anyway, even though it's a little private school with 7000 kids. Michigan is a good school for sure but not the best in the Big Ten. Go Cats!
