When Lakewood (Ohio) offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State following the resignation of Jim Tressel, many pegged archrival Michigan as the odds-on favorite to land the top 100 prospect. Sunday afternoon, Kalis ended speculation and made it public that he will be a Wolverine.

Why Michigan? "The coaches, recruiting class, feeling comfortable," Kalis told 247Sports.com.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is ranked 61st overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and is just the latest addition to an impressive recruiting class by new head coach Brady Hoke. Kalis is the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Kalis, who went to school at Arizona State and played for the Vikings, Steelers and Bengals during an eight-year career.

Kalis told MGoBlog.com that he would have committed to Michigan several weeks ago following his first official visit but that his coach told him to wait. Instead, he committed following his second unofficial visit to the school on Sunday and has already started recruiting for the school.

The addition of Kalis gives the Wolverines 19 commitments in the class of 2012 and their third Top 100 player. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to verbally pledge as Hoke overhauls the offense in Ann Arbor.

Kalis makes flip from Ohio State to Michigan

MICHIGAN RUNS CIRCLES AROUND Ohio State. You have to remember Ohio State is nothing more than a state supported university like Michigan State.Michigan is a tier one university Buckeyes dont even come close to the quality of  the University of Michigan. For that matter Michigan State is ranked higher than Ohio State when it comes to education standards. High school seniors need a solid 4.0  to even apply  to Michigan  where as you can gain entrance into Ohio with  2.5 GPA......... I f a college football player wants a real education you go to Michigan..........GO BLUE

Most of this banter is utterly ridiculous. The OSU fans are never going to convince the UM fans that they are better, nor will they be convinced of UM's superiority. You can cite many different decades of dominance in football, going both ways. We can keep bringing up the Michigan Basketball/Ed Martin thing, while totally ignoring OSU's own Basketball transgressions with the NCAA. We can contiinue to reference losses that should never have happened, and yet they happened to both schools. Even as I am typing this, everyone is reading it to say something different based on their particular loyalty. So let's just agree that we disagree!! You love your school and your sports programs, and so do we. Having said that, I can't believe those of you that simply want to justify the obvious cheating that has taken place, or minimize it's seriousness. Michigan fans were appauled over the practice time fiasco, and many called for Rich Rod to be gone immediately. I never saw or heard one Michigan fan try to justify what had happened. And you compare what has taken place at OSU to that?! Some even suggesting that the Michigan suituation was worse? We won't have to argue about it. When the penalty phase of this is over, you will have proof that the OSU situation is much, much worse. Please just demonstrate that you have common sense, OSU fans. No one should want what happened there to go on at their University. By continuing to defend it, and clinging to ridiculously weak arguments for why it was justified, you only identify yourself as part of the problem, not part of the solution.

If the kid doesn't have enough sense to choose OSU over UM then we don't want him.  Didn't the poor idiot see what happened to Ryan Mallet and now Tate forcier?  It takes years to get that UM stink off of you and  in some cases it will follow you forever.  Have fun loosing another 4 years to the team you could have been a part of.

Nitro,  you comparing Michigan's football violations to Ohio State's is laughable.  You are right to bring up the basketball violations that Michigan had because that is more in line with what Ohio State is facing now.  As of right now it is not near as severe as Ed Martin.  However, where there is smoke there is fire and we will have to wait and see what else comes out of this.

Just watched "fab five" documentary on ESPN.   How quickly we forget our own mistakes.  Front page now.  Next year it will be someone else and OSU will still be beating up Michigan...

So much vitriol. There can be no redicule of the OSU program without people flying off the handle and stomping their feet and screaming. We can end the debate with RichRod right now. WE ALL hated the guy. He embarrased the program, set it back 10 years, made it a joke and there is not one fan of Michigan who was sad he's gone. As for Urban Meyer of Bo Pelini or whatever big-name coach you expect to be at the helm next year, realize that OSU is about 99% guaranteed a probation punishment, scholarship loss and very possible post-season ban. Which is sad because the Rivalry is so important to both schools, and most UofM fans aren't happy to see OSU getting in this type of trouble. Anyway, those big-name coaches aren't interested in cleaning up a program and OSU should be very leery about hiring Meyer. Check out his rap sheet...not a hugely positive hire.

... Terrelle Prior getting cash, a couple of free tatoos, and driving a flashy car had no affect on whether or not the Buckeyes beat Michigan the last three years

It doesn't?  How do we know that he didn't choose to go there because of these benefits?  How do we know anything about what was going on there?  Because Tressel said so?

Michigan runs a clean program with high standards. Ohio state once had the same clean program but that was over ten years ago. Wining at any cost is not acceptable.

GoBlue1973, cut the holier-than-thou BS!!!  Your "clean program" is still on probation and losing practice time and scholarships for the major violations that took place under Rich Rod.  This included extra practice time during the season, and impermissible coaching of players during the off season.  Your school also had a booster funnel hundreds of thousands of $$$ to basketball players.  If you clods don't stop throwing rocks, there will be nothing left of your glass house.

Should also point out that once Ohio native Urban Meyer becomes the next head coach at OSU, it's going to be another 10 years of agony for the Wolverines!  Fun stuff!  :)
