When Lakewood (Ohio) offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State following the resignation of Jim Tressel, many pegged archrival Michigan as the odds-on favorite to land the top 100 prospect. Sunday afternoon, Kalis ended speculation and made it public that he will be a Wolverine.

Why Michigan? "The coaches, recruiting class, feeling comfortable," Kalis told 247Sports.com.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is ranked 61st overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and is just the latest addition to an impressive recruiting class by new head coach Brady Hoke. Kalis is the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Kalis, who went to school at Arizona State and played for the Vikings, Steelers and Bengals during an eight-year career.

Kalis told MGoBlog.com that he would have committed to Michigan several weeks ago following his first official visit but that his coach told him to wait. Instead, he committed following his second unofficial visit to the school on Sunday and has already started recruiting for the school.

The addition of Kalis gives the Wolverines 19 commitments in the class of 2012 and their third Top 100 player. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to verbally pledge as Hoke overhauls the offense in Ann Arbor.

LMAO, this whole 10 year stretch of OSU dominance is now nothing but doubt and question since you stupid effers were paying and giving frigging cars to who knows how many idiot players.

You think you tards would have gotten all of those recruits that you landed honestly and straight up????

Now that emo Niffla has gotten his misinformed little tantrum out of his system, let's look at facts instead of emotional outbursts.

1)  Nobody gave OSU players "friggin cars".  The car deals have been reviewed, and it doesn't even look like the players got sweet deals.

2) OSU players were not paid.  Some got improper benefits from selling their memorabilia to a tattoo parlor, which is a violation.

3)  scUM fans should know all about boosters paying players.  After Ed Martin, it is majorly hypocritical for Wolverweenies to point at OSU.

4)  Tressel committed a major violation by failing to report what he knew.  He has never been charged with any sort of recruiting violations.  So yes, he did get those recruits honestly.

Kalis makes flip from Ohio State to Michigan

As a life-long, die-hard Michigan fan, I'm getting so sick of listening to the nonsensical aimless bashing of the school, its sports programs and its fans. Let's clear one thing up, the University of Michigan is one of this country's best schools. I know, I know, football is far more important than education, but just take a look at the rankings of Michigan's educational programs. U.S. News and World Report ranks it #29 in the country...Ohio State, #56. #4 business school...#4 public university...#7 engineering and in the top 10 in just about every graduate level category. OSU #18 public school and on and on. I know those rankings don't matter in the all important world of football, but before you bash people's upbringings and the quality of school they like, do some research.

I seem to remember Michigan cheating a few years ago by practicing too much? And they STILL won only 3 games? At least when we cheat,we win! lol! I think cheating by practicing too much is much more egregious than trading gold pants pendents for tatoos. Those tatoos wont help any of them play better come game time. The fact that Tressel tried to cover up his players mistakes means to me he was trying to protect his players as ANY head coach would do.There was no paying of players by alumni. There was no wrongdoing in the players getting cars. All that has been proven. It comes down to Tressel trying to cover up his players mistakes and those players accepting money, tatoos,or gifts for awards and autographs, which,I think, shouldn't even BE a violation under the NCAA. Whether it's rewards or autographs,it is those players property and those to do with as they wish in my opinion. It was one of Michigans own players that started crying about excessive practice time to begin with.I don't think RichRod was real forward in admitting that mistake at first either,so Michigan was just as bad in my eyes over what they cheated on as well,if not worse....GO BUCKS!!!

Buckeyes are cheaters and liers and this is the only reason why they had the better of Michigan the last ten years.

You skunkweasels are delusional if you really think you can blame all of scUM's decade of decline on Tressel's one incident of wrongdoing.  That's right...Tressel may have lied and cheated last season, but there is no proof that he had been doing it for an entire decade.

Nothing OSU did caused scUM to have the worst D in the BigTen last year.  OSU did nothing to weaken scUM to the point that it struggled to beat the likes of Indiana, lost to the likes of Toledo and a Div-1AA school, not to mention getting run regularly by "Little Brother".  Blame OSU for all your problems if you want.  All it will do is continue getting your asses kicked on the field.

1.  Yes we all know Michigan lost to App St and it was embarassing - this is the same team that beat a Florida team that waxed OSU though.

2.  All the OSU fans wishing this guy ill will or to work at best buy because he's doing what he feels is in his best interests are simply ignorant and pathetic.  It's college football - you act like he personally insulted you by changing his mind.  Get a life.

3.  Anyone posting on this thread to call out another posters spelling mistakes is also pathetic and obviously had no other comeback/response besides to point out simple type errors.  Again - get a life.

4.  Why are all the morons that can't hold an intelligent conversation about the topic at hand wasting pages upon pages of posts with baseless crap - get a job or something will you?

Kalis' switch to Michigan is a nice gain for the program - and if his prediction of other players departing a sinking ship is true - it will hurt the OSU program for a few years to come.  Only time will tell, though I suspect we will learn more when there is an official rulling by the NCAA on the actual sancations levied against OSU.

All in all though - it's only one player thus far and one player does not a team make.  However, he does have a year to recruit other top talent to Michigan so it has the potential to be huge.  Here's hoping...

Michigan pulls in great players from all around the country.  Why shouldn't they pull in any players who live less the 300 miles away. The greatest winning program which still has a lopsided winning record against the Buckeyes will always be attractive to high school recruits. Michigan runs a clean program with high standards. Ohio state once had the same clean program but that was over ten years ago. Wining at any cost is not acceptable.

i think you meant mentality. you must either be a graduate of um or a current student?
If your going to point out grammar mistakes, don't forget the "y" in "you" should be capitalized after a period.   Must be from Ohio.
