When Lakewood (Ohio) offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State following the resignation of Jim Tressel, many pegged archrival Michigan as the odds-on favorite to land the top 100 prospect. Sunday afternoon, Kalis ended speculation and made it public that he will be a Wolverine.

Why Michigan? "The coaches, recruiting class, feeling comfortable," Kalis told 247Sports.com.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is ranked 61st overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and is just the latest addition to an impressive recruiting class by new head coach Brady Hoke. Kalis is the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Kalis, who went to school at Arizona State and played for the Vikings, Steelers and Bengals during an eight-year career.

Kalis told MGoBlog.com that he would have committed to Michigan several weeks ago following his first official visit but that his coach told him to wait. Instead, he committed following his second unofficial visit to the school on Sunday and has already started recruiting for the school.

The addition of Kalis gives the Wolverines 19 commitments in the class of 2012 and their third Top 100 player. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to verbally pledge as Hoke overhauls the offense in Ann Arbor.

Cant blame the guy for leaving Ohio.  All you have is Cedar Point and that place sucks.  Hell even Lebron got wise and got his ass out of Dodge.   All you guys saying we have to get players from OH to be good, dont you think maybe its the players that wanna leave your crappy state?  Get a clue please.  Lets see how good your team is with the NCAA watching over you.

Ohio State -- the University, the players, and all of their fans are lowly gutter trash. Only way you biblically epic tards could win and end the endless ass whooping in the Cooper era was to go out and hire a scumbag win at all costs cheater, and eventually (like all cheaters)he got caught. And now you IQ-less dolts are gonna pay for it on the field and off the field (recruiting).

Hope you enjoyed the past 10 years where you had to cheat to win, losers. How does it feel that your golden stretch run in this rivalry is going to be forever tainted by blatant cheating by your former toilet scum coach? LMAO, this whole 10 year stretch of OSU dominance is now nothing but doubt and question since you stupid effers were paying and giving frigging cars to who knows how many idiot players.

You think you tards would have gotten all of those recruits that you landed honestly and straight up???? LMAO!!!!!! Yeah right. Enjoy the future, morons. It's gonna get U-G-L-Y.

One thing that gets overlooked is the 10 years prior to that when Cooper was coaching OSU. Do you OSU fans need to be reminded of that? Both teams have suffered losses that within their own fan base are absolutely horrific ex. App State (who by the way won the National title that year as the best Div. 2 team) or a sub par Illinois team.

No, the Cooper years are never lost on OSU fans.  As for the "sub par" Illinois team, I assume you are referring to 2007.  That Illini team could not have been all that bad...it did play in a BCS Bowl.  I dare say that Illini team was far better than any old Div-1AA team.  Nice try, but no dice.

Losing a recruit at the last minute hurts in more ways than one. You as a scout or coach have put multiple man hours in "wooing" this prospect to your university. If he changes his mind at the last minute you have wasted valuable time that could have been spent on someone else. Your whole recruiting suffers because of this.

Last minute?  Don't be stupid.  Signing day is in February...7 months away.  Who knows? OSU may steal him back by then.

In all seriousness, a lot depends on what additional penalties the NCAA lays on OSU.  I think most agree additional sanctions are comming.  We just don't know for sure how damaging they will be.  It very well could put OSU into a tailspin for the next several years.  Or, it could turn out to not be all that bad.  People need to keep in mind that the NCAA allegations OSU is facing are a couple of levels lower than what USC faced.  So it is likely that OSU's penalties will not be as severe.

Time will tell with this kid.  Remember, he wont see the field for two years.  He is definetly NOT a leader though, and much more of a follower and has showed that he can be a tad bit flakey as well.  Not so much against the kid as to how it was all handled as he was getting tugged from four different directions at the same time.  Will be interesting to see how he fairs his senior year in high school ball with all the OSU faithful kids going up against him.

Hopefully, he will end up like the other Ohio traitors who had great promise and ended up working at Best Buy.

Yeah, I just bought a new IPOD 36 GB from Desmond Howard, Mario Manningham and Charles Woodson. Desmond and Woodson were wearing there NFL championship rings too....TUOS biggest recruit is now a Wolverine, wise choice my friend. Adolphus is next ladies.

What a confused kid.  I have no issue with him not going to OSU but to flip to michigan means his parents have done a poor job in raising him.  The kid could have gone anywhere he wanted, why stick it to the Buckeyes?  This knucklehead kid doesn't realize that michigan has a new coach too?  Idiot.  Hopefully, he will end up like the other Ohio traitors who had great promise and ended up working at Best Buy.

Michigan is a joke...and will be a joke next year.  Ohio State will beat Michigan next year...believe it!  You can have Kalis, he will turn out like Alex Boone who was pretty much a waste.  We will rebuild and once we get Ohio native Urban Meyer on board in 2012...looks like another 10 years of ass wooping on the Michigan program.  Have fun!

Nothing new here.  Michigan always pilfers Ohio.   Desmond Howard, Jim Harbaugh, Les Miles, Charles Woodson, heck even Bo Schembechler was a Buckeye.

Well looks like Michigan will be relevant again...I mean it takes a coach from Ohio and players from Ohio to get there...otherwise you're program is just average as we saw the last few years.

One thing else Kalis, leave that putrid red OSCU mantality behind if you come to this elite university. The suckeye stuff ends before you enter the big house.

i think you meant mentality. you must either be a graduate of um or a current student?
