It was only a matter of time before UConn offered Monroe (Conn.) quarterback Casey Cochran just as it would be only matter of time before he would verbally pledge to the in-state school. On Thursday the talented quarterback received an offer from the Huskies and it took just three days before the he pulled the trigger on a commitment.

"After I got the offer, we sat down as a family and talked about it," Cochran told "After going to UConn for a camp and going up a few more times, I just had a great feeling after talking to the coaches. I have a great relationship with the coaches. It's also an honor getting an offer from your state school. I see great things for the future of the program."

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder has preformed well during several summer camps and competitions the past few months. He also held an offer from Boston College and was drawing interest from several other schools but at the end of the day, playing for the local school was just too much to pass up.

"It's definitely an honor," he said. "Not many players get to play for their home state. There is more pride involved with playing for your home state. It's a different feeling."

Cochran threw for 3,340 yards and had 47 total touchdowns last season as a junior. He is the 14th commitment for the Huskies in head coach Paul Pasqualoni's first full recruiting class.
