Realignment. Education reforms. Television contracts. Let's face it, none of the news coming out this week compares to some SEC recruiting news, right? Auburn picked up a commitment Monday afternoon as Central Gwinnett (Ga.) linebacker Trey Johnson committed to the Tigers to give them their second class of 2013 verbal pledge.

"When I was sitting down and weighing the pros and the cons for every school, Auburn has so many pros and no cons," Johnson told AuburnSports.com. "It was a perfect fit, I was so positive that there was no point in waiting."

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Johnson already held offers from schools such as Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and USC. The talented linebacker has a strong connection to Tigers defensive coordinator Ted Roof, who actually played at the same high school as Johnson. Roof used to hold the record for tackles in a season before his newest recruit broke it by racking up 152 tackles last year.

"Coach Roof and I have a real strong connection seeing that he's my position coach and the defensive coordinator," said Johnson. "I brought up breaking his record sometimes, but he always tells me I'm much better than he was. He says more stuff than I do."
