Boise State was on a bye this past week but they did some work on the recruiting trail, grabbing a commitment from Eagle (Idaho) athlete D.J. Dean Sunday night.
“It’s close to home. I know a lot of people don’t like that, but for me, all my family is here and it will give them an opportunity to see me play,” Dean told the Idaho Statesman. “Everything I love to do is in Idaho. I didn’t have a reason to leave or keep looking at schools. When I got the offer, I knew it was what I needed to do.”
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety/wide receiver also held an offer from Idaho and is teammates with BYU commit Tanner Mangum.
“They said they’re leaning toward receiver, but that’s not 100 percent,” Dean said of which position he would play for the Broncos.
Dean's pledge gives Boise State 16 for the class of 2012.
