Iowa has gone outside their normal recruiting areas a few times the past couple of years and did so again Tuesday to nab Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) wide receiver Greg Mabin, who committed to Hawkeyes assistant coach Rick Kaczenski.

“I’m pretty sure I’m all set now,” Mabin told 247sports. “I definitely don’t want to de-commit. Iowa was the only one that took a chance with me and stuck with me.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver had interest from other schools but only held a BCS conference offer from the Hawkeyes. Though that was a factor, committing to Iowa was also about the relationship he built with the coaching staff.

“They seem so sincere with everything,” Mabin said. “They treated me like I was family. And Coach (Kirk) Ferentz is going to be there for a while.”

Maybin is the 11th commitment for Iowa's class of 2011 and just the fifth on offense.
