As if hosting the first ever Pac-12 Championship Game wasn't enough, the week continued to be a good one for Oregon as the school picked up a commitment from Chandler (Ariz.) safety Reggie Daniels late Tuesday evening.
"I was talking it over with my mom," Daniels told Rivals about his commitment. "Everybody kept saying what would be best and I didn't want any distractions or anything. So I just wanted to take my time and make a choice for me."
The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is ranked as Maxpreps' 12th-best safety in the class of 2012 and held offers from schools such as Arkansas, Arizona State and Washington. A late October visit to Eugene to see the Ducks play was a contributing factor in picking the school Daniels did however.
"It was really fun and the players were really cool," he said. "The facilities and the academic facilities are really nice. The coaches were real friendly. I enjoyed getting to know the coaches and hanging out with the players and stuff. It was just a fun experience."
Daniels is the 15th commitment for Oregon's class of 2012 and third defensive back to verbally pledge.
"Reggie has been one of the more consistent FS prospects," analyst Tom Lemming said. "Has played both FS and CB, he can break on the ball like no one's business, shows a smooth back pedal, does a good job of jamming the receiver off the line, and takes it personal when a receiver comes into his area. He shows very good short area burst and good zone awareness. He just seems to do everything right and effortlessly."
