It was only a matter of time.

As soon as Urban Meyer became the head coach at Ohio State, it was only a matter of when - not if - his impact on the recruiting trail would be felt. He landed his first two recruits since taking over in Columbus and they are big ones: Glenbard West (Ill.) defensive tackle Tommy Schutt and Canton (Ohio) defensive end Se'Von Pittman.

"My reasoning was just to follow my heart," Pittman told Rivals. "I wanted to be a Buckeye so I went with that feeling."

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound end is ranked 63rd overall in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps and was committed to Michigan State. All it took was an official visit to Ohio State and some face time with Meyer however and he was ready to flip his commitment.

"Honestly, I probably would have (stuck with Michigan State)," he said. "Coach (Mark) Dantonio is a great coach and he's a great person, period. For me to leave a coach like that, (Meyer) had to be a great coach and a great person too and everything he told me was what I wanted to hear to be comfortable enough to leave."

"A physical specimen who plays on one of Ohio's more storied programs," analyst Tom Lemming said of Pittman. "He's a legitimate DE prospect who can get up field in a hurry."

Pittman wasn't the first player to flip for Meyer however, as top 100 tackle Schutt was already wavering on his verbal to Penn State and all it took to make things official with Ohio State was a visit to Columbus this past weekend.

“I had a great visit and got to know some of the commits,” Schutt told 247Sports. “They were great guys and guys I look forward to playing with, and it’s a great coaching staff, and the whole environment of Ohio State is unbelievable.”

Ranked as the 5th-best interior lineman in the country, the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Schutt had been thinking about changing ever since Joe Paterno was forced out of State College. He held offers from just about every program in the country and you understand why when watching his film.

"Tommy dominates from start to finish," Lemming said. "Aggressive, tough, and instinctive, he's also very productive. Very fluid in his movements, he can redirect in the blink of an eye, is exceptionally quick off the ball, dominates the point of attack, and can split the double-team and apply pressure on the QB. He has the uncanny knack to play off blocks and find the ball."

The pair gives Ohio State 18 commitments for the class of 2012, now including three interior linemen ranked in the top 10 at their position.

Urban Meyer lands two big-time defensive linemen

Are all of the people inMichiganunable to read or is it just in your gene pool. You obviously are aMichigangrad as you can not even read a simple post.

1) I stated they were not rated in the top 100. W/ 119 Division 1 teams that means they were rated into one of the 19 spots after the first 100. Simple math Einstein but well above you

2) They are currently rated NUMBER 7 on rivals.com which is pretty much the bible of recruiting.

3) I live inSan Diegoand ask anyone at SDSU how he hung them out to dry by Brady (the size of a house0 Joke.  He bailed in the middle of night and informed his players at SDSU not in person but through an assistant coach.  Great loyalty to the kids he recruited. They despise him here and is best known for eating 4 carne asada burritos at a sting then anything football related. Google carne aside as like math I know that is a reach for aMichiganperson.

4) Get used to taking a tongue lashing and as$ kicking from the BUCKEYES.  Urban has accomplished more in 2 weeks recruiting then Brady (never misses a meal) Joke has done in 6 months

5) I will not even get into the #2 ratedOhiostate basketball team. DoesMichiganeven field a basketball team? I ask as I have not heard anything about them since the Felonious 5.

This nightmare is only going to get worst for years for Michigan. Tressels as$ kicking’s that he laid on Michigan will look like mercy killings after the Meyer Exp
1.  You cannot possibly be that ignorant -- OSU's recruiting class was ranked anywhere from 21st-30th prior to the 2 new recruits.  You can make up all the numbers you want but you are just making yourself look like an idiot.

2. -- Rivals has UM as the #3 recruiting class in the country and that doesn't include the signing of Amara Darboh, who is the #3 WR in the country.  So I guess you are right -- the bible has UM as the #3 recruiting class or 10 spots higher than OSU

3. Hoke made it clear to SDSU -- the only way he would leave the program is if the UM job was offered to him.  He told them this when he interviewed.  He didn't leave anyone high and dry.  The AD and President gave him their blessing to take the job, as he called it his 'dream job'

4. Not sure how you can say Hoke hasn't done anything -- as I stated -- he already took 2 OSU recruits and more than likely will take a 3rd (Bri'onte Dunn).  He has the #3 recruiting class in the country for 2012 and already has a committment from the top QB in the country in 2013.  So tell me again how Hoke hasn't done anything???  Oh yeah -- he won 10 games with players that don't fit his system and beat OSU.  FYI -- Urban Meyer is 0-1 against Michigan -- UM beat Meyer and Tebow in a bowl game.

Urban Meyer lands two big-time defensive linemen

That is a very good point.  Tressel was very much a gentleman when it comes to poaching other people's recruits.  In his 10 years, I don't remember a single big time recruit that defected to Ohio State after committing somewhere else.  Say what you will about Tressel's off field problems, but the man does not backstab people.  I guess Meyer has a different approach, which is good for this year since osu desperately needs to catch up in recruiting after the scandals, but I just hope that Meyer isn't over zealous and doesn't commit any recruiting violations.  OSU is already on probation as we know, so he needs to be extra careful.

Urban Meyer lands two big-time defensive linemen

For the past two seasons in Ohio, Middletown's Jalin Marshall has clearly been the most exciting player to watch week after week. He is currently ranked as the only five-star junior in-state, and his recruitment is red hot. New Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has been in contact with "Mr. Excitement."

For next year one of the top rated RB in the country Dunn.  For the year following Mr Marshall. Hey Michigan.  Urban is going to make the michigan fans miserable for the next 10 years if not 15. There is always water polo.

Urban Meyer lands two big-time defensive linemen

Michiganneeds to try and break their young men from preferring other men over football and sports. If they did they would possibly not have to pilfer all their talent from the state ofOhio.  Michiganis known for their Arabs, Queers, and fat people. Brady the Joke certainly looks like his ancestors have mounted a camel or two. His size makes Michael Moore (anotherMichiganloud mouth obese) envious. And Brady was known to frequent the Hillcrest area ofSan Diego. The main store is called The Gay Mart.  No wonder why the fat man slaps his players on the as$ and then you notice drops of drool on his chin. He must be a god friend of the guy atPennState.

7. The "joke of a coach" already has a verbal committment from the #1 QB recruit in the country for the class of 2013 -- same recruit         was named a 5 star recruit after his SOPHOMORE year in high school.

So you are saying Joke was able to keep a Mi boy in Mi? Wow he does deserve an award for that.

We shall see how long Grady Hoax lasts up there MikeD.......It's pretty simple, MI will not recruit better than OSU moving forward and will soon begin another streak of losing 7 or 8 out of the next 10 games to OSU. (Probably begining next year, since we have so many underclassmen coming back)

But stay on that Grady wagon Mike and see where it gets you....I'm sure we (OSU) will appreciate it. Oh and btw, your right with #4 up there, he was the "Biggest Coach" of the year this year and last year, and the year before...er maybe that was Weiss.

What does it tell you that top recruits are jumping ship and going for OSU even w/ possible sanctions in the future? That joke of a school in the north and theNebraska’s of the world better enjoy the one year of success they had in 2011. It is Urban time and I guarantee the Big 10 football coaches are shaking in their boots.  Especially that lard as$ Grady Joke. Tell the guy to toss in a salad.

Urban Meyer lands two big-time defensive linemen

Last week their recruiting class was not even rated in the top 100. Today it is rated #7 and climbing faster then Brady Hokes (a joke of a coach) waist line is approaching a size 60. He should hit that mark by Christmas. Mr. Joke is a great example to all the great athletes at the NCAA level about what not to look like. I heard he has a special assistant to make sure his shoes match because he has not viewed his feet in over 15 years. The OSU dominance is back on track. Thanks Santa for Urban Meyer.
Quit embarrassing the OSU fan base by posting stupidity.
1. OSU recruiting class was NEVER not ranked in the top 100 -- there is only 119 Division 1 teams.
2. The only place that considers OSU recruiting class #7 in the country is an OSU fan -- they are ranked anywhere from 13-20.
3. If you are going to make a joke about someone -- at least read what you type so you don't sound like a moron.
4. The "joke of a coach" was named B1G Coach of the Year in his only year at UM
5. The "joke of a coach" has UM's 2012 recruiting class ranked anywhere from 1st-6th in the nation
6. The "joke of a coach" is 1-0 against OSU as UM's coach
7. The "joke of a coach" already has a verbal committment from the #1 QB recruit in the country for the class of 2013 -- same recruit         was named a 5 star recruit after his SOPHOMORE year in high school.
