Urban Meyer has taken over Ohio State and quickly brought in a defensive line class that rivals any in the country. The latest addition came Sunday with Harrisburg (Pa.) five-star Noah Spence, who committed on his official visit to Columbus on Sunday.

"I am committed to Ohio State and I just decided to do it before the Under-Armour game," Spence told Scout. "I We went into Urban Meyer's office and I said Coach I am done and I want to be a part of the Buckeye Nation. I'd still like to announce on TV where I am going, but I didn't want to wait anymore."

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Spence is ranked as the nation's top defensive end and number three overall prospect by Maxpreps. He held scholarship offers from just about every program from coast-to-coast but the comfort factor with Meyer and Ohio State allowed him to commit while on his visit.

"It feels so great, I am truly blessed," he said. "Feels like I got the monkey off my back and I thank God for being with me every step of the way and for blessing myself and my family."

Spence is the Buckeyes' 19th commitment for the class of 2012 and joins fellow top 100 recruits Se'Von Pittman and Tommy Schutt on the defensive line. He amassed 98 tackles and 12.5 sacks during his senior season and should compete for a starting spot early on at Ohio State.

"He blends great size with speed, quickness, and power," analyst Tom Lemming said of Spence. "He has a keen sense for the football and uses it on every down. Remarkably active with a terrific burst, he's able to rip off blocks with strong hands and tremendous natural strength."

So they had 6-7 years of cheating and gave up one year or wins and this year. Yeah thats more than enought punishment. The NCAA needs to make an example of this dirty program. That or just stop with the rules bs because they dont have the stones to actually punish a school for cheating. This is on line with Barry Bonds punishment.

Unplayabe, you're just a bitter idiot.  Have you read all the ridiculous garbage you typed?  How often does a newly hired coach take to the sidelines for his team's bowl game?  Um, never.  The old coach or an interim always coaches.  The other blather in your post isn't worth commenting on other than to say you look foolish.  Rest assured that all the people you reference aren't reading your post.  They couldn't understand it if they did.  Here is a hot tip for you, mix in a bit of grammar and feel free to use spell check too.  Lastly, our band is damn good.  TBDBITL!!

Here we go again.......meyers leaves his coaching jobs when things start to go downhill like all the other jobs he's held, which makes him look like a super coach once the next coach takes over a broken mess. He's just another in a long line of coaching misfits.  Heard on ESPN radio that the only reason fickell was given the coaching of the bowl game is so Meyers can start recruiting and they mentioned that he was not suppose to be recruiting that early...another one of shady moves by ohio state. One good thing is he won't have to recruit any criminals because they're already here.... The only thing ohio state has is $$$$ that's what 's keeps them out of bigger trouble. ....This bad stuff has been going on for as long as I can remember....I remember the child abuser -(Woody) about the quarterback choker-(reynolds)......the scammer-(schilister)-.....gun toting (Clarett)-...the prositute grabbing backup quarterback-(forgot his name)-.....the liar-(tressel)-......the coverup duo-(gee and smith), car pimping and dealing with drug dealers-(fab 5) you got the criminal sheep herder-(meyers)...please don't make me dig any deeper than my memory allows because my fingers would be worn out tying all that stuff. you see the way they treat "THIER OWN"..HAVING FICKELL COACH AFTER MEYERS WAS ASK TO BE THE HEAD COACH 8 MONTHE EARLIER......Giving him the  "TITLE" of head coach so they could cover thier tracks and make them look like they were reaching out to one of thier own.  Fickell if you're reading this to pitt...don't you remember what your mother told you..."Don't hanger around liars, cheaters or thieves it will give you a bad name"  they don't care about you or anyone else that stand in the way of thier $$$$$$$.  Don't worry ohio state fans he'll be gone once someone finds out stuff he's done or he sees that things aren't working out and he'll be back in the studio calling games with washed up Spelman or radio jock Stanley. TO THE RECRUITS if you are reading this plan to sit the bench here for a long long time-(ask some of the 4-5years  bodies that saw little or no playing time. they don't care about your future just thier $$$$  and they don't want you possibly playing against them so sit awhile and take a break...if you aren't thier first pick go somewhere else were you can play and mayeb go to the next level .If you live in cowtown you know that all the washed up has beens have to return to columbus to get a job because they were over hyped as players......p.s your band isn't that good either.....BE READY BUCKEYE FANS CAUSE YOUR NEXT CHEER SHOULD BE ...OH-O-NO

REV and SMITH--glad someone else jumped on Teres' unsupported accusations as I did earlier this am.  Lets see if he/she can rebuttal with anything of substance --but then we know that some people just gotta hate for whatever reason ...

TERES- You have two "bottom lines" here.  Where I come from there can be only one bottom line.  Which is it? Ohio State is cheating the recruiting system with illegal benefits?

Nope, isn't that one.

There's not a shred of evidence that during the recruiting process anyone from TOSU told players that selling memorabiiia was part of the system and the reason why they got things like game jerseys and "gold pants."

Or is the bottom line that if Ohio State is not held responsible for ten years of cheating Jim Delany and Mark Emmert should be fired?

Nope not that one either.  Again there is not a shred of evidence that Ohio State has been cheating the "system"  (presumably the recruiting system) for ten years.  From all appearances this is was one class of jack-holes that put themselves above the program.

Also, you miss a very basic possibility, even if OSU gets a post season ban, it's not likely to be more than 2 years.  That gives these kids two years of playing and perfecting their games without any pressure.  Then, in their last two years the get to compete for back to back championships.  I can think of a number of players that might find that palatable if not completely attractive.

I believe that the NCAA will give OSU schollie restrictions over a 2 to 4 year period, but no postseason ban.  Vacating the '10 season, going through a coaching change, and having a so so '11 season is already punishment.  We should still be able to compete for big ten titles with the schollie cuts if Meyer continues to recruit this well.   Let's say you can award 21 ships in a given season instead of 25. not a huge loss if those 21 are 4 and 5 star guys.  those 4 missing ships will be replaced by walk ons in order to fill out a 100 man roster.  so basically your 4th string and part of your 3 string are walk ons instead of 3 star recruits.  OSU will have depth issues, as will USC, but I don't believe that that necessary makes it impossible to field a great team.

Teres - Your response is filled with speculation.  10 years of recuriting cheating? What basis is there for that? True there have been issues with boosters, but you have no idea if that is connected with the recruiting system.  If you do, provide some sources and you'll be believable.  Use facts and logic to fuel your arguments, not just emotions.

So much for breaking the rules!  I guess USC took one for the whole of the NCAA...
Not really. In terms of the seriousness of the infractions involved, OSU < South Carolina = USC << Miami. Don't get me wrong: Jim Tressel deserved to be fired. OSU forfeited several scholarships, vacated a year's worth of victories and the Sugar Bowl win, and limped to a 6-6 record when they lost their starting QB for the whole year, all-conference receiver for 10 games, and all-conference running back for 5. All of that seems pretty appropriate based on what we know. Disappointing stuff, and deserving of punishment, but not quite on the level of Bush or Mayo.

South Carolina has slipped under the media's radar, probably because the timing has overlapped with the Sandusky scandal. But the infractions that they have essentially admitted to are at least as bad as Southern Cal's. (And their coach just got an extension on his contract. Go figure.) If they don't get hit with a major penalty, I'll join with the Trojan fans in howling about it.

And Miami? Wow. The worst infractions (that we know of, at least) in 25 years. Their penalties should be considerably worse than OSU or either of the USC programs. We'll see.

He had a real impact out there in a 52-0 thrashing in a state

Never really thought PSU had a shot at him after all the crap going on up there but that was confirmed Friday night after seeing Meyer snuggling up to him on the sidelines at the AAA State Championship game. Didn't really think he had a good game in which his team lost 52-0. Really enjoyed the chest pounding when he made a tackle with the score 38-0.
