Urban Meyer has taken over Ohio State and quickly brought in a defensive line class that rivals any in the country. The latest addition came Sunday with Harrisburg (Pa.) five-star Noah Spence, who committed on his official visit to Columbus on Sunday.

"I am committed to Ohio State and I just decided to do it before the Under-Armour game," Spence told Scout. "I We went into Urban Meyer's office and I said Coach I am done and I want to be a part of the Buckeye Nation. I'd still like to announce on TV where I am going, but I didn't want to wait anymore."

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Spence is ranked as the nation's top defensive end and number three overall prospect by Maxpreps. He held scholarship offers from just about every program from coast-to-coast but the comfort factor with Meyer and Ohio State allowed him to commit while on his visit.

"It feels so great, I am truly blessed," he said. "Feels like I got the monkey off my back and I thank God for being with me every step of the way and for blessing myself and my family."

Spence is the Buckeyes' 19th commitment for the class of 2012 and joins fellow top 100 recruits Se'Von Pittman and Tommy Schutt on the defensive line. He amassed 98 tackles and 12.5 sacks during his senior season and should compete for a starting spot early on at Ohio State.

"He blends great size with speed, quickness, and power," analyst Tom Lemming said of Spence. "He has a keen sense for the football and uses it on every down. Remarkably active with a terrific burst, he's able to rip off blocks with strong hands and tremendous natural strength."

Stay classy Ohio.
Don't be stupid, Nerv. First, the "stay classy" line is tired. Second, every fanbase has idiots that would do the same things you described, not just Ohio. Most Ohians either don't know who Kalis is, or as is my case, don't really care where he goes to school.

This kid should have gone to WVU.  He would have had a muchmore successful career as a Mountaineer.  Oh well, I wish him the best.

What is funny is that Ohio would have a real shot at flipping Kyle Kalis back over if it wasnt for their obnoxious fanbase. A 17 year old kid changes his mind on where he wants to attend college and he gets death threats on himself and his family. He gets chanted at, jeered, harassed, insulted when going out in public. The coach who recruited him got fired, the program had potential for harsh sanctions, & the product on the field was substandard. Yet the Buckeye fanbase still lashes out and attacks this HS kid like he had just roughed up their mothers. Its ludicrous to think there is any chance that Kyle comes to play for your school after seeing your true colors shine through.

Stay classy Ohio.

Yes, this is a nice pickup; but Heir Urban will have to recruit nationally. Not too many 4 and 5 stars athletes from the sun belt want to freeze their heinies off in the north. Things are looking up on the conference side of things anyway.

It looks like so many of these posts sbould be redirected to Dennis Dodd's page, he that would stir the Michigan/Ohio State hatefest with just a few keystrokes, anytime he could.  Looking at this article, it seems to me that we are seeing the Meyer effect take hold.  My question is how did he get in and steal Spence from Penn State, except that Penn State has not yet righted itself...and it better do so quickly, before Ohio State or Michigan take the rest of Pennsylvania's top recruits.

Mikey, your statement is idotic.  To infer that getting a tattoo would have a material impact on the series and that OSU fans should not be proud that they kicked some UM butt does not make sense.  I would agree if they were having someone take tests for the athletes, or that they trained outside of the guidelines.  But these were tattoos for god sake.  It must have been a very long 8 years for your team, and now it will be worse.  The punishment fit the crime.  So from a Bucks fan...please assume the position..there is an extended butt whipping coming.

Meyer up to his old tricks again and that can only mean "trouble" for the rest of the Big Ten to say the least. Michigan fans should definitely enjoy the win against the buckeye's this year because it may very well be there last for years to come. Meyer has proved for years that he is an elite recruiter and now has Ohio State backing him. He will have no problem building Ohio State into a super power in college football and what he did at Florida will be an understatement in my opinion. Meyer is a masterful motivator, has a proven track record of success and has coached many all-american players to play as a unit for one goal in mind and that is to win a National Championship. Recruits will easily recognize playing for a coach and a program that will be in the top 5 or higher year in and year out will only add to the mystique of Urban Meyer. With Joe Paterno down and out at Penn State, their are no other programs with the glitter or glamour that Ohio State has going. Urban Meyer will be able to not only lock down Mid-west recruits but he can venture into SEC territory and steal recruits from the Alabama's, Auburns and LSU's. Recruiting in the states of Texas and Florida will be a little tougher but with the Big 12 diminished of rivalries and big time programs falling out of the elite, Ohio State has a for sure leg up on all the other schools, at least for the next 3-4 years.
