It hasn't taken Mike Leach too long but he's already hit the fertile Southern California recruiting grounds hard at Wazzu. Culver City (Calif.) wide receiver Alex Jackson and linebacker Khalil Pettway like what the new Washington State coach was selling and promptly committed on Wednesday after getting offers.

"It is a real big opportunity," Pettway told Rivals. "I've been watching the Pac-10 since I was a kid and now to be a part of it is kind of humbling. The education is great in the Pac-12."

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Pettway also held offers from Arizona, SMU and West Virginia among others. He'll join teammate Jackson on the Palouse, who was excited to be part of the program with Leach in charge.

"I wanted to be part of an up and coming program and I felt like that's what they have at Washington State," Jackson told Scout.

The pair gives the Cougars 19 commitments for the class of 2012 with National Signing Day almost a month away.

"Blessed with good hands, he has big-time speed, and excellent body control," analyst Tom Lemming said of Jackson. "He catches everything within reach and once he gets into the open field, look out."

Neither a big follower of the PAC-12 in general or Washington State in particular, WSU's hiring of Mike Leach rights a wrong at the hands of the Jameses and leads to my having an out west favorite. Best of luck to Coach Leach and WSU.

I agree. No Bull Daddies willing to pay off recruits to come and play. Just good old recruiting. You have to cheer for Leach and Washington State after Craig "Don't pick on my prodigal son" James ruined this mans career. I wonder what Craigs daddy's boy is doing now?
