PHOENIX -- One of the highest profile recruits to commit at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, Erie (Pa.) running back Greg Garmon wasted no time telling the assembled crowd at Bank One Ballpark and a national television audience on CBS Sports Network what school he was committing to Tuesday night.

"I will be attending the University of Iowa to play for Kirk Ferentz," Garmon said on the sidelines before the 4th quarter. "I was watching the NFL Draft and they said Iowa had a lot of NFL players."

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Garmon was also considering Arkansas and Miami. He was ranked as the 26th best player overall in the class of 2012 and fifth-best tailback in the country.

"The complete back, he's been blessed with great size, speed, vision, balance, and hands, he's a three-ring circus who can run, catch, and block," said analyst Tom Lemming. "A do everything kind of back, he's a strong runner who keeps his pads low, fights for yards after contact and keeps his legs moving. He shows good patience and burst, and is one of the more competitive players in western PA."

Iowa does put players in the NFL but they can't keep a RB healthy or not suspended to save their life. It's a serious problem in Iowa City.

He grew up surrounded by Big 10 football for goodness sake! Accordingly, he would naturally lean towards a Big 10 school rather than play further from home.
Snub SEC? Since when is Miami an SEC school?
Good kid, good resume and he CHOOSE Iowa for what seemed to him to be valid reasons.

Would you have read this trite report if it were otherwise titled?  I doubt it, and I wouldn't have either.  Typical sports "yellow journalism."  It's just what is currently accepted as sports writing/reporting.

Snubs the SEC???  How do you get that???  He chose Iowa, plane and simple, it had everything to do with Iowa and nothing to do with snubbing anyone!!!  This conference loyalty BS is created by media outlets to get rabid fans of a team to be rabid fans for ten or twelve teams for added rating/revenue/profits, don't let the sports media outlets turn you into sheep!!!
