SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- It was a long and winding commitment for Miami (Fla.) linebacker Keith Brown. Committed to Miami for several months, he flipped to Illinois after an official visit only to see head coach Ron Zook fired weeks afterward. Brown made yet another change Saturday at the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and hopes this one sticks.
"I'm going to take my talents to Louisville," Brown said.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder held offers from several other top programs but ends up as a great addition to Charlie Strong's class that is already young and shared the Big East title in 2011.
"He makes plays from sideline to sideline, is excellent in coverage, rarely gets caught up in traffic, plays the game on his feet, and is known for his hard hitting style of play," analyst Tom Lemming said. "He shows good ball skills, is as durable as they come, and can effectively plug the gap and shut off the inside run."
Brown had 124 tackles, two sacks and a touchdown as he led Norland High's defense to an undefeated year and state championship. Maxpreps ranks him as the 15th-best outside linebacker in the class of 2012. Fellow Army player Nick Dawson committed to the Cardinals earlier in the afternoon.
