Patrick Miller, once committed to LSU, has enrolled at AuburnDwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) head coach Jack Daniels confirmed.

Daniels told MaxPreps today that Miller was set to enroll early at LSU. However, the day after the BCS title game, LSU told Miller that it only had five scholarships available and seven players enrolling early.

LSU asked Miller's father to pay for the spring semester, which prompted Miller and his family to explore other options.

Auburn, which currently has a small recruiting class, welcomed Miller with open arms.

The 6-foot-7, 270-pound Miller had been verbally committed to LSU since the fall, and was part of a loaded offensive line group that included Vadal Alexander and Derek Edinburgh.

Now, Miller joins an Auburn recruiting class that features quarterback Zeke Pike, who has also enrolled early.

The weeks leading up to National Signing Day often see a number of recruits decommit.

Last week, Top 100 defensive back Ronald Darby reneged on his verbal commitment to Notre Dame, while Devante Harris backed off his pledge to Oklahoma.

skeffery-enlighten me,who did Auburn pay? After reading all of the ncaas papers on Auburn I saw so much paperwork, phone and bank records, the Newtons bank records ect, ect, ect, so who did Auburn pay?The whole Auburn paying people is way played out, especially after reading the ncaas findings, and believe me the NCAA sent thier bulldog to AU to bury Auburn but they found nothing.Grow up and find something original to spat about.

slayerhog you have to be joking.Arkansas will be back to thier normal place in the west coming real soon,4th,where they have been since joining the SEC.Arky will not win a NC before Auburn wins another.I dont know what you have been smoking because last I checked AU is still the 2010 National champs with three top recruting classes on the roster and another coming, not to mention some great coordinators coming in.You arky fans are a bit delusional lately because you keep coming close to coming in 2nd in the west but you are what you are...the 4th best team in the west.I can say this because since the SEC split into divisions (when your team joined) Auburn leads the west in confrence wins.Arky has won the west what once, yes he should have gone to arky to get real close...

Whereas LSU plays by the rules and honestly told the young man he would need to pay his own way, AUburn, like Newton, will pay him.

A footnote to my first post: when a university has gotten a commitment from a player and continues to over-recruit over the top of him (like in this case) I agree that it is a huge injustice to the player already committed.  I wasn't trying to defend the actions of the universities in the case where a player has already committed and they stiff him out of a scholarship.

How many times do you think head coach Jack Daniels gets hung up on because people think he's prank calling someone?

Over-recruiting is a problem, but it's hard to fault universities completely.  It's a numbers game on their end too. All of the offers made aren't going to pan out.  It may be grossly abused by some universities, but what is a good number of offers over your allotted scholarships? 10? 15? 20?  Kids get to wait until the last minute to commit.  It's hard to fault someone for trying to stack the deck if the cards all want to come and play at their school.  A lot of times, the winners in these situations are those second tier schools that may land a player late in their signing period that they had already written off.

Should have tried Arkansas. They will be competing for the National title for the next 3 years already and could use a Good OL-man. Auburn will not be doing that to be sure.

My sources have told me that Miller changed his mind on attending LSU after the Tigers dreadful performance on Monday night. Those close to Patrick say that the 270-pound Miller has always had dreams of being on a team that could actually cross mid-field 4 times a game and that Auburn afforded him the best chance of reaching his goal.
