Meyer flips another, brings Decker on board

Urban Meyer hasn't been shy about showing some committed recruits about the virtues of playing football at Ohio State and it worked once again as he flipped Vandalia (Ohio) offensive tackle Tyler Decker from Notre Dame on Sunday.

"I grew up an Ohio State fan and when this all started Ohio State was one of my top three schools," Decker told Scout. "I feel coach Meyer is going to do great things at Ohio State and get things back on track with the program. Having the opportunity to play for him is amazing."

The 6-foot-8, 290-pound tackle had other factors in changing his commitment from the Irish to the Buckeyes. Notre Dame's offensive line coach Ed Warinner and Decker's primiary recruiter, running backs coach Tim Hinton, left South Bend to join Meyer's staff last a week prior to his official visit and played a role in addition to academics.

“I would say there were several things in my decision,” said Decker. “The first was academics. Notre Dame is a very prestigious school and would provide me a great education. However, when I made my commitment I knew Notre Dame did not have my major and that bothered me."

Decker becomes Ohio State's 20th commitment for the class of 2012 and third along the offensive line.

ND is a joke and no video of Kelly yelling was needed. Their over-exposure on TV the past decade or so has backfired on them. These young kids that weren't alive when ND mattered keep seeing them get embarrassed whenever they play anyone decent and have to wonder what the hype is about.

Meyer flips another, brings Decker on board

Here's all how this whole Tyler Decker to Ohio State after committing to Notre Dame fiasco came down. The Urban showed the "Deck" video or Irish coach Brian"the nutcase" Kelly lighting up his QB, offensive linemen, tight end, and anyone else who dared come off the field after a turnover and the Irish head man berating and emascalating those players. When Tyler saw these images; he commented, "Why would I go play for that psycho when playing @ Ohio State and Coach Meyer would make me more NFL ready." When asked for comment in his South Bend office, Kelly said;" I wish that c*** suc*** all the best in his career."

Should anyone really be surprised.  When you grab coaches from other programs, what do you do next?  You go after the kids they recruited. Everyone does it!  Urban is a master!  Much like Calipari!

If Meyer's health and passion holds up, he'll likely do something special at OSU. I hated to see him leave Florida, but these coaches do things for different reasons. Glad to see that B10 fans crack on each other as much as other conferences. College Football needs as many programs outside the SEC as possible to become major players. The SEC will not be on top forever. They will have some lean years. This thing has always cycled...and will continue to do so. Meyer is a good coach, and a great recruiter...give him a little time OSU, and he'll have you right back in the mix.

Ultimately seems like a good move for this kid - not sure why he would ever pick a school w/out his major.  South Bend is lame anyway and the girls are pigs. I hope he's good.

By the way, I looked it up, its Taylor, not Tyler. Are you sure your name is Bryan, and not Brian?

You sound like a Penn St. alumni with some angst against OSU. Pretty funny stuff, since Penn St. Fan was bashing Ohio State for Tattoogate while professing to be clean, then you have the biggest scandal break out this side of SMU. You wouldn't happen to be upset that Urban has taken the best prospect in Noah Spence from you. No, how about getting your best committed DT in Shutt to flip his committment to OSU. Not angry yet, how about getting OL prospect O'Connor to flip as well. Still denying you're upset? How about bringing LB Camren Williams, your most prized recruit, for a visit Wednesday, along with your most highly rated CB Reeves and having Urban close the deal on them flipping to OSU as well. PSU fan, you know how to dish it out, but have no clue how to take it. Urban will show you how to take it. O'Brien will be there for 4 dark years until you get someone of quality like Golden to come back. No doubt the B1G needs PSU to be relevant, but it wont happen soon. Just like Buckeye Fans, you need to be humbled and I see no signs of that happening soon.
