Mike Leach has brought a bit of attention and recruiting acumen to Washington State and it's paying off in the form of commitments. The latest two to sign up for the Palouse pirate ship are Gardena (Calif.) linebacker Kache Palacio and Los Angeles (Calif.) wide receiver Gabriel Marks, right, who committed over the weekend following visits.
"It's very inviting because the numbers they've put up and the players (Leach) put out is really impressive with (Wes) Welker, (Michael) Crabtree and a bunch of good players," Marks told Rivals. "It could be a really good thing to catch a lot of balls and make a lot of plays.
Marks and Palacio are both former SMU commits but seemed to open things up as soon as their primary recruiter, Adrian Klemm, left for UCLA. Both enjoyed their visits and appear to be set on signing with the Cougars.
"They didn't say anything except I would have a chance to come in and compete for playing time and get on the field," Marks added. "They said if I was the best they would play me so I have to come in and make plays."
The California duo are the 21st and 22nd commitments for Washington State's class of 2012, half of which are from Leach's new talent base of California. Palacio racked up 92 tackles and 13.5 sacks during his senior season while Marks has had over 2,000 all-purpose yards over the past two seasons.
