One commitment is good but two must be twice as nice - especially for this year and next. That's the feeling those at Florida must have after adding commitments from Winter Haven (Fla.) 2013 running back Adam Lane and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. on Saturday.
“I’m committing to the University of Florida,” Cox Jr. told 247Sports. “I chose them because I get a great vibe from the Gator Nation. I think I fit well into the system and the degree from Florida means something. The academics are outstanding and I’m really impressed with the coaching staff.”
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Cox Jr. is the son of the former NFL star of the same name and held offers from Iowa, Miami, Michigan State and others. Lane, a 5-foot-8, 210-pound back, turned in a terrific sophomore season and held offers from schools such as Florida State and Georgia despite missing his junior year due to injuries.
“Me and my family sat down and had a meeting and decided Florida was the best fit for me,” Lane said.
Cox Jr. winds up as Florida's 19th commitment for the class of 2012 while Lane becomes the first for the Gators in next year's.
