One of the most famous names -- and better quarterbacks -- in the class of 2012 has reportedly decided to head for the SEC.

Gator Country has reported that Skyler Mornhinweg, son of current Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator and former Detroit Lions head coach Marty Mornhinweg, has pledged to sign with Florida over Penn State. Skyler originally committed to Stanford as a rising sophomore at St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, but switched to the Nittany Lions last summer when Jim Harbaugh left the Cardinal.

New Gator offensive coordinator Brent Pease and Marty Mornhinweg played together at Montana, potentially giving Pease a window in which to make his pitch to Skyler after the recent coaching transition at Penn State. Skyler visited Florida's campus last weekend, Gator Country reports.

At 6'3" and 190 pounds, Mornhinweg has been among his class's more highly-prized pro-style quarterbacks, with reported offers from programs like Tennessee and Illinois as well as Stanford, Penn State, and the Gators. Tom Lemming writes this in his evaluation of Mornhinweg:

He impresses you with his arm strength, poise, smarts, and overall game. You can tell he's the son of a coach, I watched him throw down in Phoenix last December and was impressed with his quick setup and even quicker release. Shows great poise and field vision, not a sprinter but he can escape the rush and buy time with his feet. A winner with a great attitude.

Mornhinweg becomes the 21st commitment --and only quarterback -- of Will Muschamp's impressive 2012 class. The Gators currently rank fourth in the Maxpreps team recruiting rankings.

Didn't know 1-2 ... qualified as "many"

Btw that is why Penn Staters go into a protective shell and have to defend because most people like you seem to not know the facts of the case.

Hey Joe Pa Gavin; you finally exposed me for the horrible guy that I truly am. I freely admit my "family environment" was not a healthy one and I'm still trying to exorcize the many demons from my life. However; the unfortunate children that Mr. Sandusky sexually abused through the decades( many on the PSU campus) face countless problems and scars in their lives that may never heal. My man; you speak of Penn State in an incestuous manner that frankly sounds a bit creepy. You cannot simply dismiss anyone not from the cult that is Penn State as uneducated and nonsensical because they happenned not to attend college in Happy Valley. For Heaven's sake man; open up your mind to ideas and thoughts not from central Pennsylvania and you may begin to see the light. By the way; I don't need your sorrow bro!

One thing is a given, we Gator fans won't have to worry about bucking up Brantley's courage this year.  So any news on that front is good news.  Now if they get the signings on their offensive line.

You can tell that the guy you're replying to is uneducated and not from the PSU family.  Our 4 and 5 star children will continue to choose PSU and keep the program as stable as Joe Pa did for the last 6 decades.  The gentleman who posted the nonsense simply hasnt experienced a good family environment like we have with our own family and with the PSU Family.   I feel sorry for that guy!!

You and your ilk have no interest in the plight of those kids nor care to understand what is going on up there. You are so above it all, just let it go. The PSU community is so much more than the handful of individuals that handled the situation horrendously. But you can continue to enjoy yourself classifying the entire university as a safe harbor for pedophiles. Your ignorance is mindnumbing. I could care less how "non penn staters" like yourself react, just don't sit there and tell me how I am supposed to react. if anyone needs to put it to rest it is you. Your drivvel is posted all over these PSU blogs and it really is getting old and tiresome. Don't you have something better to do? Find another cause to assail, your message is getting worn out here. btw what does CodyPicker mean? Is that some sort of cryptic insult I am supposed to be offended by? If so, it missed the mark.

Hey CodyPicker; you mean the fun your ex-defensive co-ordinator had in the shower stalls. Come on bro; lay low until at least the trial and then maybe even the entire 2012 campaign before you come on this post and tell all of us non-Penn Staters how to react. Your school will be forever linked to one of the worst sex scandals in college history, but you "We are Penn State" folks just can't let it go. Your school harbored a known pedophile for over a decade and the sooner you and the community accepts that fact, the closer you begin the healing. Just let it go bro!

Unless this kid had potential as a O lineman, this is not a big loss for PSU. Paul Jones was a bigger catch, has shown great promise, and will overcome his academic issues this year. The Bench kid looks good too. Good luck in Gainesville kid.

He wasn't happy when PSU recruited Bench.   He started looking elsewhere and when Bench signed he left

This one hurts, but this was to be expected this year. Once some stability is regained recruiting will pick up again, probably as soon as next year. idiots like beso can have their fun this year.
