UPDATE: CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd spoke with John Beckham, Green-Beckham's high school coach and adoptive father, who denied the Tulsa World report.

The nation's No. 1 recruit, Dorial Green-Beckham, has the college football world scratching their heads wondering where the 6-foot-6, 225 pound wide receiver will sign on National Signing Day?

The standout from Springfield, Mo. has kept his decision-making process under wraps throughout his recruitment, only recently narrowing his list to Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Which school will add Green-Beckham to their 2012 recruiting class has been a matter of intense debate among recruiting experts for weeks.

A report from Tulsa World reporter John Hoover on Monday morning suggested that Missouri has moved into the top spot and will be Green-Beckham's selection on Wednesday.

"Extremely good source just told me Dorial Green-Beckham to Missouri," Hoover reported from his Twitter account. "Influential visit last weekend. Things can change but I trust him."

The combination of Green-Beckham's potential and the uncertainty regarding his decision will likely lead to plenty of "sourced" reports over the next two days, but one certainly is worth some attention. To catch up on Green-Beckaham's recruitment and learn more about the school's hoping to receive his commitment, check out Stephen Spiewak's profile from Monday at MaxPreps.com.

Texas will more than likely be his choice. look at the other schools, Texas has the best all round team of any of them with OU a close second.  The positives for OU are the passing game there, the positives for Texas is the exposure. Mizzou and Ark do not even come close to the exposure on national TV he would get at Texas or OU.

Why is this even a story?

The opening paragraph says that the player and coach have denied the report.

I'd be surprised if he went to Mizzou. Because the Beckham family seems like a straight laced, no nonsense kind of family, I assumed that Pinkle's DUI was a deal killer for Missouri. I think he'll go to Arkansas.

Seems like I read somewhere that he has family in St.Louis as well as Springfield.  If that's true, Columbia, MO would be a perfect spot for him to land.  I also read somewhere, I believe on Rivals, that Mauk and DGB are pretty close friends.

Missouri savede itself by joining the elite conference, otherwise DGB would have probably gone to Arky or Bama. I mean, why play at a Big 12 school where your QB can't get a pass off against real teams such as Bama, LSU and the like.

I want DGB to go to Mizzou pretty bad, but I've done the same distance-from-home analysis as rpbusby, and I agree with the logic that he'll pick the place closest to home.  UA is about 45 minutes closer to Springfield than MU is.  Would make sense for this kid to pick the place closest to his adoptive family, his sick mother, and his jailed brother.

FYI the arkansas campus is closer to DGB's home than mizzo or oklahoma. DGB has already visted arkansas  4 or 5 times. Coach beckham has been there as well. Matter of fact DGB has played a game in Reyonalds Razorback Stadium with his dad coaching. So your point about his dad not being on the visit doesn't mean a thing. Keep up the good work.

Leave the Kid alone and just wait and see what he does. Ya'll know soon enough. Jeez .. he's a High School kid. Reporters have to report something but why not look for a story that is pertinent to something. What's next ... what size shoe he wears ?
