The entire college football world has been wondering where wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham would play his college ball, and the kid known as DGB put an end to the suspense on Wednesday morning.

Green-Beckham announced that he'd be signing his letter of intent to play at Missouri, choosing to stay closer to home.

The other schools in the running for Green-Beckham's services were Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Obviously, this is a huge signing for Missouri and head coach Gary Pinkel as the school gets ready to join the SEC. You need playmakers to win in the SEC, and the Tigers may have signed the best one available.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 225 pounds, Green-Beckham is considered the top player in the country by MaxPreps, and has often been compared to Randy Moss thanks to his size, athleticism and skill.

"It's taken 17 years but I've finally found a wide receiver who is as good as Randy Moss," says Tom Lemming. "For years I've said Randy Moss was the best high school player I have seen, and Mr. Beckham has similar skills. He has great size, long arms, a true F.A.T. 100-meter time of 10.5, and superior production. The nation's No. 1 player, he appears to have no weaknesses. He will be the most celebrated prep football player in the country."

No word on whether or not this signing will lead to a giant boost in helicopter rentals.

Lame Kiffin said "Please DGB don't do this to us, I thought we had something special here! You'll come back! I'll wait for you!"

Yea we all know how USC is hurting for receivers!!  Coach Kiffin can get more talent to USC in one recruting class than Mizzou
in 10!  Hope the kid is happy at MU, he looks like a good player.  I m sure he s never been offered anything from boosters at
Mizzou, of course not.  He ll enjoy those 5 and 6 win seasons I m sure.  At least he is close to home, that s all that really counts.

Dorial Green-Beckham chooses Missouri

He made the choice on Missouri to be close to home and because that is what his mom wanted.  Plus this gives him the instant celebrity status of "home town hero".  If all he had wanted was to play for a team with the potential to win a national championship, or even a conference championship, he could have picked ANY team he wanted.  No, I am not saying that to slam Missouri....I know that is a shock....I am saying it is nice to see a kid this talented put family first.  How many times do we see it happen where a kid does not take this path?  Bubba Starling from Gardner, Kansas had offers from both Kansas and Kansas State, and several others close to home (I think Missouri tried to recruit him as well) but picked Nebraska.  Even though the local media knew he would never attend college at Nebraska, or any college for that matter because he was a MLB lottery pick, Bubba was looking for an offensive system to fit his talents.

This exerpt from the Kansas City Star explains it all:

Dorial’s younger brother, Darnell, is a 15-year-old sophomore who is battling cancer and liked the idea of watching his brother play at MU, a three-hour drive from Springfield.

“At the end of the day, he really liked Texas and we liked Texas,” John Beckham said. “But … we’re still a young family. So we need to, as a family, experience this with him. At Texas, we couldn’t do that. At Missouri, we could.”

For all of the trash talk I may have done, and probably will do in the future as a sworn M.U. hater, this is a truly awesome story and gives me one kid to root for in the enemy camp.  Take good care of this kid Mizzou faithful, he sounds like a great kid to rally behind.

For the record, Columbia, MO is about 35 miles further away from Springfield, MO than Fayetteville, AR is.  Not to mention the drive itself is about nearly an hour shorter due to roads.

There was a pretty good article and interview by Fox of the family in regards to his recruitment where they spill alot of beans.   They said that OU was who they thought narked out Petrino on his incidental visit.

They said Kansas had scheduled two seperate visits, cancelled both of them and were "just a mess".

Described Lane Kiffen, following his learning that USC was no longer in the running, as a whiny ex girlfriend begging on the phone.

Said that he was given alcoholic drinks on his visit to Arkansas even though the people giving it to him knew he was only 18 and that it was idiotic of them to do so.

That their visit to Auburn was way over the top.

Notre Dame was ruled out because of Brian Kelley throwing a sideline fit.

That they loved Mack Brown and he was the most personable coach they dealt with.   You could tell they were glowing when talking about Mack Brown.   I think if Texas was closer they would have landed him for sure.

Said that an AR booster offered to help them with anything they needed and another AR booster said that he might make a big donation to the high school.

The decision wasn't made until after the trip to Mizzou and that was the nail in the coffin on his decision as it was all still pretty much wide open until that point with Arkansas looking like the favorite.

Said that Missouri informed them the next day they had to report his getting into the helicopter to the NCAA because it was a secondary violation.

lol mcfadden didnt have a broken foot in the cotton-bowl against mizzou. u are prolly mixing up mcfadden's broken down nfl career to his college career. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT AND COME UP W/ A DIFFERENT EXCUSE WHY MIZZOU COMPLETLEY SMOKED THE RAZORBACKS!!! according to mapquest, fayetteville arkansas and columbia missouri is a 15 mile difference from springfield. so saying fayetteville is closer is irrelevent. stupid hogs. i never thought u could be dumber than kansas but maybe im wrong.....just maybe....

Yes, if the National Championship game is replaced with the Big East Championship game, you're probably right.  Why would DBG want to reduce his yearly catches to 50 by going to WVU.  D Alexander had 100 for Mizzou 3 yrs back, Moe has nearly 70 a year now.  Winning the Big least or beating an ACC team in a bowl isn't a big deal- most everyone did that after Christmas.
