With the start of the 2011 MLB season just days away I participated in my 4th Draft this past Sunday (5 fantasy drafts total). As with my past posts I will detail the draft results below. This particular draft was the 1st of my two money league drafts that I am participating in this year. It is through Yahoo! Sports and is a 10 team H2H league ($25 buy in). In the past this has been a free & highly competitive league, but this year we decided to make it a pay league to increase the excitement and competition even more! In fact this is the longest running league I have ever been associated with and it has become a tradition of sorts each season. I was fortunate enough to win the league last season and hope to defend my title, but it won't be easy! This will actually be the 6th season with the same group of owners! The other difference between this draft and the others I have posted on here is that my younger brother also competes in this league so the sibling rivarly is also there, and adds to the overall enjoyment of this league in what can be a dreadfully long fantasy season.
Overall, I wasn't as happy with this draft and the results as in previous ones, but I was able to get decent value considering I had the last pick in this year's draft (#10 pick). I did draft players that I knew were injured (Utley & Morales), but I couldn't pass them up at the spots where I was able to select them within the draft, Utley  and Morales respectively. I think my SP staff is decent with proven innings eaters in Lackey and Nolasco to fill out the bottom of the rotation. Lester and Soria are probably what many would consider reliable or safe selections and I had to make a point of selecting a few key players like this throughout that specialized in certain categories and were almost guaranteed not to fail. Some other players like this included Ichiro (STL & HITS & AVG.)
and A-Rod (HRs & RBIs). I am gambling on a huge season from Adrian Gonzalez and Justin Upton, and also hope that Jose Reyes returns to form. My RP other than Soria is probably my biggest question mark on this particular roster as both Rodney and McGee's roles as Closer are far from secure. As in past seasons I will go to the waiver wire or trading block to land more consistent sources of Saves as well as work on improving my lineup and rotation too. Please see the draft results below.

2011 Fantasy Baseball Draft #4

Hey Bobcats! Thanks for the comment. Yeah I definitely took a huge chance with Chase this season as I have a feeling that Utley's going to end up needing surgery, but I figured that since I have 2 DL slots I can use, that drafting him #70 overall could still be a benefit if he does come back and play this season. I think I was able to get a better deal drafting Morales at #150 overall, because if Kendrys performs anywhere near the stats he compiled a few seasons ago he could be the steal of the draft, but we'll see...I already made a few transactions due to Latos injury, which I knew nothing about unfortunately. I signed Jaime Garcia as an extra arm, and also signed Matt Capps since my RP's are one of this team's weak points. I also dropped Freddie Freeman in hopes of resigning him once another one of my guys goes on the DL. Thanks again!

2011 Fantasy Baseball Draft #4

Overall you don't have a bad team. I wouldn't have touched Utley with an eleven foot pole, that's the pole I reserve for things that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. This season he will be the classic definition of a high risk high reward player.

The only other thing that I see is Latos might be a head case.

Again, I think that your team has some nice balance and should compete through out the year.
