President Obama hosted last season’s Stanley Cup champs Friday, minus a few players who have been dealt or otherwise left the Chicago Blackhawks.
Obama, however, noted another absence: Patrick Kane’s playoff mullet.
“I thought it was sharp,” Obama quipped.
Team president John McDonough handed Obama, the nation’s 44th president, a No. 44 Blackhawks jersey. USA TODAY reported that Obama took a moment to note his hometown’s struggles when it comes to championships, which really is down to the Chicago Cubs now that the ‘Hawks ended their 49-year drought.
"Waiting builds character," Obama said. "We have a lot of character" in Chicago.
